hehe nice. I loved the part about the "bloody Pippin" :D Author Reply: Glad you enjoyed it. I just had a vivid mental picture of Merry and Pippin still raiding pantries in their old age!

*giggles uncontrollably and wipes eyes* Oh, dear me! I quote you: "...little boys all their lives, but none the worse for that." Yes, I must have missed this by accident. Oh, I can just see Pippin, the grand Thain, highest in the Shire, rading his own pantries! LOL! What would have happened if one of the maids had caught him? *snicker* God bless, Galadriel Author Reply: Oh I'm so glad you found this! I could just see Pippin leading a raid, just for the fun and excitement, and Merry would naturally go along with it - especially if apple pie was involved! Ruby, the housekeeper, sounds terrifying! I imagine Pip wants to steer clear of her if possible. Glad it gave you a good laugh.

"You're incorrigible, you know that, don't you?" "Wouldn't be me otherwise. I wonder if Frodo still pinches mushrooms? I hope mushrooms grow in Tol Eressa." Heehee! I love how Merry and Pippin still manage to be fun and mischievous even when they're old. This is so sweet and funny. :) Author Reply: I don't think Merry and Pippin would ever give up the mischief altogether, even when they're old gaffers. I can imagine all the members of the family rolling their eyes and grinning. :-))

My dear BB! This is a charming little story!! Sorry it has taken me so long to read it. You capture the sense of mischief and "forbidden" adventure so well in such a short little piece. I love Pippin's reasoning. "they're my pantries I should be able to raid them whenever I please!! LOL!!! I can so perfectly see an oldish Pippin and an oldish pondering their mischief! What a lovely word picture you have painted!! Thanks for that! The penitent PEF Author Reply: I don't think being the Thain and Took would put a crimp in Pip's occasional need for mischief. I could just picture the two of them scuttling down the passageways, laden with booty!

LOL! Pippin raiding his own pantries! But after all, a raid is a raid ;-) "Here's to us too, Mer. To pantry-raiding, mushroom stealing and pipe-smoking. May we never be too old for any of it!" I just love that toast! Author Reply: Well, if Pip can't raid his own pantries, whose can he raid? I'm sure those two never stopped their mischief!

Lovely image of two staid yet still pantry-raiding Hobbits. And love the toast to Frodo. Author Reply: I had such a vivid picture of the two of them that I had to write it. And I'm sure they wouldn't forget to toast their much-loved cousin. I think those two would never quite abandon their tweenage mischief, even as Master and Thain.

I loved this. I'm hungry now, but I did love it. I like to think that Merry and Pippin never did get too old for a bit of mischief. Author Reply: No, never too old to raid a pantry and grab extra food. Writing it made me hungry too! :-))

Oh my, I did love this! Just so very Merry-and-Pippish, and never mind that they are gaffers themselves now. Delightful, Baggins Babe, just delightful! Author Reply: Very difficult to imagine Merry and Pip as boring old gaffers - they would retain a certain degree of naughtiness, no matter how old they were. The idea for this came to me yesterday while I was out, and I could hear their conversation in my head. I wrote it as soon as I came home. (Not that I think about the characters at all). LOL!

What a sweet birthday story! :D Author Reply: I felt I couldn't allow the Baggins birthday to pass without marking it in some way. Glad you enjoyed it.
