This is dwarftacular, it's very funny and well thought out. Author Reply: Thank you for your kind words! Though I'm not sure about "well thought out," it came to me as I was laying in bed, avoiding the morning, but as Gimli's tale demanded to be told I leaped out of bed to get it all down quickly, before leaving for work. I'm glad he had it all worked out in his head before telling me! :)

Very fine drabble about art as an expression of love--both his love for Galadriel and his love of the creative process itself. One of my favorite passages in the LOTR is when Gimli tries to explain to an uncomprehending Legolas the wonders of the Glittering Caves. Did you read the quote that Nilmandra posted for October 6th? Feanor had begged a gift of Galadriel's hair and was refused. How fitting that she later granted this boon to Gimli the Dwarf, a lesser craftsman but a more worthy person. :-D Author Reply: His love for Galadriel, his own creative and artistic urges, and his love for the "deep places of the earth", characteristic of his people. I've got a whole new appreciation for Gimli myself now - it was like he woke me up saying, "Love *me!* Love *Me!*", lol! I don't know enough above the Sil (and stubbornly refuse to learn) but all those Sil folks were annoying, from what I've heard. I'm not surprised she held out for Gimli, at least when it comes to handing out strands of hair to admirers.

Oooh, Ann--This is so very, very perfect! Such a vision of Gimli, and the usage of the Master's own words was so artfully done. Yes, the Lord of Aglarond is, in his own way, a poet indeed. Author Reply: Thank you so much! I was quite happy to borrow the Professor's words as my framework, and just embroider in some added details. That's basically what we all do, isn't it? :)

Lovely. Why should the poetry of other peoples look like ours? Why should words be the only form of expression? Author Reply: Your kind words delight Hungry soul, eager for praise Feedback is like gold!

Lovely concept, beautifully expressed. Gimli's fondness for Galadriel is simple but profound. Poetry may be an arrangement of words; but all that is poetic is not necessarily a matter of phrase and verse. Author Reply: I think Gimli would have taken such pride in his craft, whatever it was, that the work itself would have been his gift. I'd not written Gimli before, but I'm glad this challenge insprired me to write such a satisfying piece.

This is beautiful. Poor Gimli is not always given full credit so it is nice to see his artistic side. Galadriel really made an impression, didn't she? Author Reply: Thank you for your kind words, and taking the time to review. I had never written for Gimli before but he was quite insistent, waking me up at 5:00 am to tell me of his devotion to Galadriel.
