If I had a Hammer by Grey Wonderer | 13 Review(s) |

Finally got time to read this! Sam deserves a medal for his patience and good training of Pippin I think. And I am really wondering what happened that had Pip sleep in the barn instead of his bed... :)Merry should have helped Frodo figure it out more though, not go take a nap and leave it all to Frodo. Author Reply: I think Merry will get his chance to help out before too long. He may be very glad that he's had a nap. Sam is really giving the lessons his full effort and I think that Pippin is benefiting from that. Nothing like a patient teacher to make a difference. More on the mystery of Pippin's sleep problems before long. Thanks for reviewing!

Curiouser and curiouser this not sleeping in his room thing becomes...Now that there seems a solution in sight, I want answers!:) Got a few chuckles from the hammer scene. Seems quite an appropriate one, given the title of the story. Also enjoyed the Frodo and Merry interaction where Merry sits down at the table in his nightshirt and Frodo's comment "Fine. Don't bother to explain." Author Reply: I have to keep the hammer in the plot because that is how this entire thing out started. LOL Sam is gradually making an improvement in Pippin's skills, but he is still having to work at it. Good thing he is the patient sort. Poor Frodo even has his hands full with Merry, doesn't he? LOL Thanks for the reviews and for all of your help on this one!

ooooh...The suspense is killing me! I probably should have figured it out by now, but, what can I say? I'm sorta slow... looking forward to finding out, though. This really grabbed my interest from the beginning. Author Reply: Frodo hasn't figured it out yet either. I hope to have it all sorted out before too much longer. Thanks for reading and for reviewing this one! More will be posted soon!

Frodo's getting closer to Pippin's sleeping problem...will I want to Hammer on Tunnelly's head again? LOL, will Merry? I shall stay tuned... Sam and Pippin are too cute together! Sam is a wonderful teacher. LOL, Pippin is a marvelous DODGER! Go, Pip! Thank you for another great chapter! Pippinfan Author Reply: Glad you enjoying this one. I am guessing that this went well with your lunch break? Frodo may have his answers soon enough. I am hoping to get to the bottom of that in another chapter or three. LOL Wish me luck! Pip was a bit like another English Lit. character in this chapter, The Artful Dodger. LOL Thanks so much for reading!

"Well, this is my hammer hand," Pippin said raising his right hand so that Frodo could look at it. "I might injure it writing and not be able to hammer anything tomorrow. I already have two sore thumbs and so if my hand cramps up from all of this writing then how will I hammer anything?" - LOL!!! Creative indeed. Well, Frodo is doing his best to figure out the "sleeping-problem", but I must admit, I'm as confused as Merry now ;-) "If you ask me, we are right back at the beginning, Frodo," Merry said. "We still don’t know a thing." Author Reply: Clever excuse, wasn't it? I doubt this sort of thing will work on Frodo though. I do think Pippin deserves points for effort. LOL Both you and Merry will have your answers in a chapter or two so stay with me. Thanks for the lovely reviews and for reading!

Merry at breakfast in his nightshirt. And both Merry and Sam being cagey. And Pippin sleeping in Merry's bed. I really approve of Sam taking Pippin back to the beginning and teaching him how to handle a hammer. Pippin is bright enough - and a quick learner in some ways, but he definitely seems to be dyspraxic. He does need to be taught some of these physical skills that seem to come naturally to others. I'm longing to know what Pippin has against his bedroom. Frodo seems to be getting closer to understanding - but I'm not! And of course Pippin shouldn't be writing if it risks straining his hammering hand. How unreasonable of Frodo! Author Reply: Poor Frodo. Everyone is hiding something and all he wants to do is get everything out in the open and solved. He certainly has his hands full on this issue. Sam may have saved himself some serious pain by being clever enough to teach Pippin how to use that hammer. Better safe than sorry in this case. LOL There will be an answer to the bedroom question before too long. This can't become an epic novel. I refuse to run off at the mouth that much! Thanks for revieiwng!

I love this story so much - Frodo racking his brains to try and work out why Pip doesn't want to sleep in his room; Merry being slightly defensive, and pouring cold water on Frodo's ideas, and dear, wonderful, practical Sam, patiently teaching Pip the basics of carpentry. I loved the 'You're running out o' thumbs!' line!!!! And Pip's creative excuses for not doing his writing just made me roll about - the inventiveness of the Tooks! Great stuff! Author Reply: Thanks! Glad you are enjoying it still. Pippin is very clever and once he starts using that for the proper things he should do quite well. Seems he still isn't too wild about his writing lessons. Looks like Sam is turing out to be the better teacher or maybe he just has the more entertaining subject.

Hm, I think I know what it is that is making Pippin not sleep in the room. I'll wait and see if I'm right. :) Pippin and that darn hammer! At least Sam got out of this without anything happening to him this time and without a hammer to his head. Pippin just needed the proper instruction and Sam is the perfect one to give him that. And your Sam is doing wonderfully btw. I think you have him down pat now. :) I can't wait to see Tunnely's reaction to the wheelbarrow. He'll be eating his words, if he can get his big fat foot out of his mouth, that is. Author Reply: So you've so.ved the puzzle, have you? I can't wait to see if you're right. So glad to know that my Sam is still on track. Thanks again for keeping watch over him. He still has work to do. There's this fair coming up..... Mister Tunnely may indeed be in for a surprise.

I already have two sore thumbs and so if my hand cramps up from all of this writing then how will I hammer anything?" ROFL!!! Oh, I do love the lad's reeasoning!! Sam is wonderful. I want him to teach me carpentry ;) Author Reply: Pippin is inventive, isn't he? Frodo just doesn't seem to be having the success that Sam is, does he? I also want to have Sam drop by and teach me carpentry. This whole thing is making me want to build something. Maybe a set of shelves like the ones that Frodo built? Thanks for the review!

Pippin should be good at creative writing with his creative excuses ;) I'm glad to see Sam teach Pippin how to use a hammer without hurting himself even more. But you're torturing me, you know, with this whole business of why Pippin won't sleep in his room. I keep thinking of Merry's dream. I can't wait to find out the reason! Author Reply: Torture? Me? No, surely not. I shall try to behave in a future chapter. The truth will have to come out at some point. LOL Sam is doing a good job with his first carpentry student. Maybe this will be a new part-time career for him. Thanks so much for reading and for reviewing. More soon and answers in the near future. I promise.
