Elrond's response must have been rather surprising to all those who expected cool dignity. But it's more than understandable. In all his long centuries he's probably never experienced anything quite like this. And doubtless hopes he never will again. Even if he has to go to Valinor. Just to be certain. Author Reply: Poor Elrond. He needs a long time to calm down. I can see him escaping to Valinor just to relax and be as far from hobbits as he can get. I wonder how he felt bout having Bilbo and Frodo alon? :)

I kind of suspected that there was a reason Aragorn didn't take the other path...but I didn't suspect that it didn't exist, LOL. Besides, then we wouldn't have had the fun of this story.:) Elrond's victory dance and Bilbo's note that he has done the same on several occasions also made me chuckle. And now I have that song in my head "it's the end of the world as we know it...and I feel fine." Enjoyed the story! Author Reply: Poor Aragorn. Can you imagine how chagrined he would have been if there had been a dry path that he didn't know about. The indignity! Elrond is far too happy to have all these troublesome visitors gone. Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Love the image of stately Elrond punching the air. LOL! I was grinning from ear to ear reading this entire story - loved the thought of Aragorn and Arwen having a sneaky canoodle behind a curtain! I wonder if Elrond realises that they will be back. Do they sell farting powder in Gondor.............? Author Reply: Elrond punching the air was something that I just couldn't resist writing: the mental image was hilarious, so I had to share it. :) Ah, the sneaky canoodling of young lovers. And Elrond being annoyed by it, too. There's a reason why Elrond leaves for the West, and it is not only because the time of Elves is over. He wants to get as far from hobbits as he can. Too bad they're taking a few with them... Thanks for reading!

Elrond suddenly gave a great shout of glee and jumped, fist pumping the air. “They’re gone! They’re gone! All will be normal again, for a while. Come, we must break out the wine! No more mishaps!” LOL! Let's give Elrond this feeling of victory and some time of peace and quiet! But *we* know, they are coming back ;-) I will miss this story, it was great fun to read it! Author Reply: And Elrond will consider heading for the hills when he realizes it. Poor guy. :) Thanks for reading! I'm going to miss this story, too.

ROTFLMAO!! Loved Elrond's "touch of dramatic" flair at the end and Arwen's remark of her father being all too serious. Merry and Pippin certainly know how to go about unhinging an Elven lord. I can so picture Bilbo doing a little victory dance as soon as the S-B's leave as well. Wonder what Elrond's reaction will be when he realizes that if the Fellowship succeeds the hobbits will eventually end up back at Rivendell?

His moment of drama was overturned--and as soon as they are off at last, it's BREAK OUT THE WINE! THEY ARE GONE! Hilarious juxtaposition of images there, the serious and the hilarious! Oh, I love it!
