| I liked the way the villagers reacted. I think everybody has his or her own way of accepting this kind of news. Of course they are afraid, I would be so terrified that I am not sure if I would be able to act instead of weeping as some of the women did, but they have a leader. A wonderful leader. Own their own they would be lost, but following this wanderer's orders is not that difficult. :o) “You can barely stand, so who do you think you are? The King himself?” >:o/ It wasn't the first time during this story that I wanted to simply slap that idiot! (and I fear this wasn't the last either) You said it is good to know what I liked the most. Well, this time: “You have to stand and fight or you will be destroyed.” “We cannot fight!” another man cried. “We are fishermen, not soldiers!” Strider swivelled around and shouted: “Then you will defend your people as best you can! There is no other way!” I love your OC characters! | I'm afraid my reviews tend to sound somewhat repetitious. After all, it's hard to say 'marvelous', 'excellent', etc., TOO many different ways. But I'll try. Okay, picture this: you're at the movie theater and the movie previews come on screen. That guy -- you know -- the one with the low, barely contained excitement in his voice -- begins speaking in hushed solemnity: "ONE man. (closeup of Strider looking sexy) ONE choice. (closeup of Strider struggling to get back to the village and STILL looking sexy) ONE chance (closeup of Strider speaking urgently to the clueless villagers, the men looking annoyed, the women -- well, you know)...TRAPPED in a village where time stands still...where strangers aren't welcome...where danger lurks...where NO ONE believes him...ONE man. ONE choice. NO chance...(camera pans to horde of orcs running towards the village and THEN, to black. Female viewers realizes those quick screenshots of Aragorn are gone already...what the????) This will ONLY make sense if they do movie previews in Germany the same way they do them here in the U.S.)... Okay, lame, lame, lame. Loved the chapter, as always. Great work with the villagers' reluctance to believe that there is any danger, with Gaellyn's suspicion, and Strider's determination to make them DO something! Very well done. I chuckled a bit over the description of the village guard. I'm sure that would be true if the guard never had been 'on guard'. When Doran tells the villagers that Aragorn is the son of Thorongil, what a vindicating moment. Little do they know...And Nilana is back. And she STILL wants to take care of him? Daevan's reaction was cute. Can't wait to see what happens next. Thanks for this terrific story. Author Reply: Hi Viggomaniac, shall I start repeating myself? You make my blush. Every time you write a review you should think of the consequences you put on the author, running around with her head deeply reddened and her kids asking mom what has happened! Beautiful review, did I say that? I do have a kind of "movie" in mind when writing. The moment I start a scene the pictures just come to my mind. The way the village looks, the way the people react... And, of course, Aragorn looking sexy. Hell, what other push do I need?? Take care, - T. | |

| I love Strider's "take charge" attitude! Very good chapter. You described the mounting fear and helplessnes of the village so well. Poor Nilana..she will always feel responsible for him. It seems Strider has a history of inadvertantly breaking women's hearts. I love that line "...when Strider gazed back to Daevan, the younger man ineffectively tried to hide his grin". It kind of made me smile too (although heartbreaking for Nilana). Can't wait for your next update. Author Reply: Hi RS, thanks for your kind review. | Wow , for a while there I thought they where going to have to come up with a real orc, before the village people where going to get a move on. | Well done chapter. I like that not everyone just immediately believed him - how that Gaellyn is so suspicius of him. It makes it much more realistic. And you captured the fear of the villagers quite well. I like how you used Aragorn's sickness as one of the reason's that the people didn't listen at first - his voice wasn't as commanding as it had been earlier when he was feeling better. Nicely done. | Ah, the trials of unrequited love! Poor Nilana, seeing one she could honor and love as she did her lost husband, but who cannot love her in return, but still willing to serve him as she can out of the love and honor she gives so easily to this stranger whom she assumes is Thorongil's son. The irony that this IS Thorongil is a pleasant one to savor. Can't wait until the story continues. Author Reply: Hi Larner, love is a many-splendored thing, but very hard to grasp and hold.
