No Good Deed  by French Pony 7 Review(s)

Wow! I am exhausted just reading this. It is seriously actions packed. The whole confrontation with Thano, Nasir and Ghayur was great--I loved hearing what the history was with them. I was a little surprised that Ghayur turned out to be not involved. And I definitely felt sorry for Thano--he was just a pawn, poor fellow. But no leader, that's for certain.

Poor Aragorn: Alas," Ghayur said, "but that is how it must be, it appears. For my part, I have enjoyed our conference, truncated though it was. You have a keen mind, and it is an honor to confront it. I am also honored to have encountered once again the radiant Jewel of the Evening and to have laid eyes upon Gondor's Rainbow. My offer of betrothal remains open." Ghayur is a great character. I bet Aragorn snorted--lucky he didn't puke.

Great chapter. :-)

Yay! Ghayur was superb! He's very convincingly portrayed, no matter how false his intentions are in the end, if they are indeed, he keeps a mask of aloofness and courtesy that I find most amusing and even enthralling! He's the typical likeable bad guy!

Yet I felt for Thano and his final mess, all of his own making until his own end...sigh. I hope that Nasir gets what he's due... And I am ashamed to recognize that I enjoyed the gurgling detail? You promised gore, and gore we did have! LOL!

The parting pleasantries among both rulers were amusing and very well done. May I say that it all has a very welcome old -movie flavour?

A very exciting chapter, it seems that Ghayur is one of the good guys after all !Good for Arwen to seize her chance to help in her own rescue.Aragorn must be furious.I will miss this tale when it's over.

That, I suppose, is the result of my own suppositions, that you would have had the people of Umbar between Gondor and Harad as I do in my stories. So, Haytharm was son to the previous Calif of Harad, was he? And now he will be less than nothing due to his cooperation with Nasir. I am sorry for Thanos, for I believe he might have been a fine man with proper guidance. Now he is but dead meat rotting in the ground near Paros.

Now, for Aragorn and Eomer to deal with those from Nurn and offer them proper guidance, unlike Nurn.

Thank Eru. I have to admit I felt sorry for Thano. He truly doesn't understand. I think he couldn't imagine a life different than the one he lived under for so long. The strong abused others and he had to act to keep his people from being the abused ones.

Well, Ghayur saved the day after all and Thano became the sacrificial lamb. Nasir and Haytham will get their just dessert by the looks of things.

The tango of words between Aragorn and Ghayur at the end was interesting and well done. Ghayur may not have been the bad guy in this round, but if I were Aragorn, I'd keep my eyes and ears alert for this guy. I think the spy trade will continue to thrive in both Gondor and Harad.
