Nice to see Aragorn and Pippin sharing such an important moment for both. (Travel difficulties must have been such a pain in Middle Earth. And no cell phones or internet!) I'm sure they can't have seen enough of each other once the hobbits left Minas Tirith - they all had their responsibilities. I like Aragorn moving quietly enough to creep up on a hobbit - that would take some doing. Especially this one, this final break with the childhood he’d already grown out of long ago. Yes, Pippin outgrew his childhood at Parth Galen, I think. It must have become a bit of a bind after that.

"A single date did not have to change everything, though the whole world could change forever in the course of one day. That is very profound--and I enjoyed this lovely tale from beginning to end. Pippin sounded much older than his 33 years, which I am sure was your objective. Well done! :-) Pippinfan

Terribly AU, but wonderful nonetheless. And a joyful day for all, in spite of the leaving of so many, and especially Frodo, Elrond, and Galadriel with Gandalf.

Brings tears to my eyes. You don't know what you've got 'til it's/they're gone. But, chin up, friend Pippin, still lots to do and become! This is a lovely answer to the challenge. *tips hat to author*
