Hello again, this was a fine set of chapters! Quibbles & Dwarves & adventures. The image of Frodo dangling out the back window and then being caught in the holly bushes (despite his best efforts to slip away unnoticed) by the Gaffer was very funny. I do hope Bilbo comes home soon - I've a feeling that Lotho started the fire to destroy Bilbo's will and try to usurp his home while he's gone - which would be typical S-B behaviour. No wonder Lobelia was all sweetness and light to Frodo in public, trying to divert suspicion before it's even cast... On to the next 5 chapters. Maureen :)

I have a suspicion this fire was set by one of the S-Bs, trying to get rid of an unwanted adoption document. So, Bilbo--hurry home, and soon.

Uh oh!! This has the SBs written all over it. My guess is they were trying to lay hands on/destroy Bilbo's will or Frodo's adoption papers ... or both. Something tells me that Frodo is going to soon be forced to make contact with the Brandybucks or Tooks real soon. LOL at the Gaffer being discreet and Frodo sneaking out the window!! And loved Bell/Frodo scene as always. Please write more soon!! Author Reply: Somehow, when bad/sneaky things happen, the SB's always seem to be involved. In this story, anyway. ;P

It's so sweet that Frodo doesn't want to leave Bag End because he's finally found a home, and doesn't want to leave it. And I really snickered at this image: In any case, every time Frodo stepped out the door now, the Gaffer would appear, seemingly rising right out of the hedge sometimes, to ask where he was going, who he would be with, and what time he expected to return. Author Reply: I like the idea of the Gaffer trying to be combine overprotectiveness with being discreet. :P

Let me guess: Lobelia, in the records room, with the candlestick? lol. That old goat will try anything to get her hands on Bag End, including destroying the copy of Bilbo's will. Thankfully, Bilbo is a sensible hobbit. Loved seeing Frodo being "mothered" by Mrs. Gamgee. It's a fact of life that no matter how old we get, those little pats on the hand still mean so much to us. Touch is one of the first sensations we experience and it remains the most reassuring one throughout our lives. And Frodo escaping out of Bilbo's bedroom window was just priceless. :) Author Reply: "Lobelia, in the records room, with the candlestick" ROTFL!! Perhaps, perhaps. 0:-) And I agree about touch; it's always potentially meaningful.

One of the S.-B.s trying to destroy Bilbo's will? But wouldn't they know there'd be a copy in Bag End and maybe with Bilbo's lawyer as well? And the whole idea of seven witnesses is in case the document is destroyed... Of course, Lotho's never been the brightest candle in the box. And what's Lobelia got on her twisted mind? Poor Frodo! The only thing worse than an overt babysitter for an adolescent is one that's being "discreet", LOL! Author Reply: Oh, don't worry, the S-B's know. I'm not going to let anything stand in the way of the fiendishly evil remaining bullet points in my outline! 0:-)
