Oh. My. Conflustergation. I am trying not to cry right now, because my mom is rigt here, but it's sooooooo hard. This is torment but I keep reading anyway. You are EVIL. You know that? I love you, but.... you're evil to the core. (But so am I, considering my new PG-13 fic, so we're evil twins.) Author Reply: Well, you know how much I love to torment my readers. And we are twins after all too. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

I don't blame Sam trying to keep the Ring from his master cause I would have done the same thing. BUT, it probably wasn't the BEST thing to do because of the toll the Ring was taking on Frodo this time. The Ring is trying harder this time to take control of Frodo and Frodo is just so tired of this whole ordeal. As for your question, I think that Frodo DID have some amount of free will left, but the Ring probably overpowered his will, making him give in. After all, they are in the very heart of Mordor. Frodo is not weak, that's not what I'm saying, but the Ring's power had taken almost total control over Frodo's will, but (like I said) Frodo did still have some free will even inside Mt. Doom. Anyway, lovely chapter. Love every bit of it. :D Author Reply: Thanks for your thoughts on Frodo and free will. Queen Galadriel didn't think Sam should have tried to keep the Ring either, my reply to that is under her review. Thanks also for all your other kind reviews! I am so glad you are enjoying! Let Sam not be offended, but I honestly don't think he should have tried to persuade Frodo to allow him to bear the burden for a while. It was unsuccessful last time, he knew it would do more harm than good. I know it was out of love, but anger can be exhausting, and Frodo needs every ounce of strength. But Sam is the very escence of love, and I think I could forgive him anything... especially since he meant only good, as always. And if he hadn't come when he did...*shudder* it doesn't bear thinking about! As for your question, I don't think Frodo had any part of the Ring's claim on him. He was just so tired...so tired, and the Ring had been slowly but surely draining every ounce of strength and resistance he possessed for months. I think at that point, when he reached the place where it was forged, it was at the height of its strength and he at the height of his weakness, and he was at last enslaved. But I'm just as new as you, so you might want to ask the experts. Another great chapter! Namarie, and God bless, Galadriel Author Reply: Re: Sam trying to keep the Ring - well, I think he was a bit stressed out at that point from everything, he's just sick that he had to choose the thing he most hates over the person he most loves and he sees how the Ring is tearing Frodo apart again and would want his dear one to have some relief from that, even if he knows it's hopeless and he shouldn't even try but it's not easy just to watch someone you love that deeply just fall apart without trying to do everything in your power to help them. Perhaps the Ring itself was also influencing him. I don't see how they would have yelled each other like that without it, these two who are so close they share the same heart and soul. My dear, dear Antane, Of course I will speak to you again!! These last few chapters have been absolutely wonderful!!! Um, to answer your question, I don't think Frodo was ever completely one hundred percent consumed by the Ring. And, he better not be this time!! I would think that Frodo would still have a voice inside him, resisting the Power of the Ring, even if the power was so strong as to make his hands claim it. He more than likely still had a tiny voice still crying out to try and stop that terrible power. That's my opinion, and I don't know if it's any good, but there it is anyway. Keep on writing!! It just keeps getting worse for Frodo and Sam but better for the reader because I know that it will turn out alright....ahem, ahem. (RIGHT, Antane? ;) Namarie, and God bless!! Frodo Baggins
