| Éomer is worried about Rohirric bastards running around Minas Tirith without protection. The only way to help them in Anglo Saxon times was to sire them; they could live in the household and have the Lord´s protection, but not heir rights. Elfhelm´s wife is right when she later tells Lothíriel her future husband is quite unique. Of course, Éomer has illegitimate offspring, and quite a few I presume. But he is a man of honour and has done something other warriors and Lords would consider a bit strange. As Imrahil said, Éomer has his own strict code of honour. In Unexpected, I think his first illegitimate is introduced in a very specific way. I think he has just arrived, 12 years old, his training has started. His Westron a bit poor. (Éomer was only 16, hormones and all that. Elfhelm witness, Maddy told us herself.It must have been some warrior ritual celebration or his initiation into the world of men). I still believe that in his Boast ritual, he will make a vow: He will kill as many orcs as he can, etc but to truly honour his parents he will only marry for love("in this world and beyond"). These children are for Éomer "consequences", he doesn´t consider them his children (not perception we have nowadays) but he will make sure they are taken care of. The children he will have with his ladylove are "gifts". Funny number, eight, it reminds me of eight gift horses in Beowulf. They are pure Rohirric Power, people proud and tense around them at the same time, even when they are kids. Illegitimate will have no chance. Maddy´s Lothíriel is unique and different, but her Éomer also. He doesn´t care what others say, he does what he feels is right. He will marry a healer, something unthinkable of (Elfhelm doesn´t allow Merewyn in the room as Lothíriel is operating on...). Elfhelm happy, but others... He will marry a princess from Gondor. Some Lords miffed. There will be some tension at first. Éomer will dismiss Éofor and have a word with his men after leaving her. She is His. Interesting the Tafl game Éofor will "play". Hammer and anvil. | |

| Loved the dialogue between Eomer and Faramir about Eowyn, and the fair assembly comment where the neareast and dearest could amount to about 500. Laughed out loud about Eomer's "give me orcs" line. I especially adored Amrothos here and always anticipate something very funny & amusing to happen whenever he is in the scene. The hand-off of Lady Cuillwen holds a lot of promise and made me think that Amrothos has a big role to play in the future. Although I'm a bit partial to Amrothos because he is so funny and entertaining. Loved Arwen's comment about Gimli! | |

| Thanks to the MPAs, I discovered your wonderful series. I normally print up fics (Stories of Arda makes that so easy!) so I dont review as often as I should because I get too caught up in the story. I love this series! nautika | |

| I have to admit to you that after reading the first chapter of "The Healer and the Warrior" I went over and looked you up on fanfiction.net. I have to tell you that I haven't had such an enjoyable evening in a long time! Your stories are brilliant, your characters awesome. I won't give away spoilers to the readers here, but I am looking forward to any and all other fics you write. Thank you! Author Reply: Hey, you are cheating. | Wonderful chapter and start to this next section. I loved the interaction between Eomer and Faramir and it will be interesting to see how this 'little' affair that Eomer evidently had will now play out in his eventual relationship with Lothiriel. I found his relationship with Gimli interesting and I loved it when he asked Gimli if he truly wanted him to give his opinion on the beauty of another woman when he was standing in front of Arwen. That was wonderful! :) Also, I had never considered the fact that there probably were many Rohirrim children running around Minas Tirith after the war and that he as the king would have been concerned about them. Nicely done and I can't wait until the next chapter! Author Reply: Since the beginning of time armies have left this kind of legacy behind. | *lol* Éomer ist aber gar nicht nett zu dem armen Faramir! Ihn so aufzuziehen - das hat Faramir eigentlich nicht verdient, nach allem, was er mit seinem eigenen Vater schon mitgemacht hat. Naja, unser guter Steward of Gondor wird sich wohl an seinen künftigen Schwager und dessen seltsamen Sinn für Humor gewöhnen müssen (oder zumindest an Éomers Abneigung gegen Feste dieser Art, die Éomers Laune offensichtlich nicht unbedingt heben). Und dann sein Gespräch mit Amrothos - ich habe mich kaputtgelacht. Du hast wirklich ein Händchen für diese Art Dialoge! Ich glaube, ich muß mir abgewöhnen, beim Lesen Tee zu trinken, ich habe ihn beinahe über den Laptop geprustet! Wenn die ganze Fürstenfamilie von Dol Amroth so schlimm ist, dann frage ich mich ja, wie es dem armen Éomer ergeht, wenn er es mal mit allen zusammen aufnehmen muß *grins* Gimlis Auftritt war auch Klasse! Sein Eifer, Éomer zu beweisen, daß Lady Galadriel die Schönste ist, war ja urkomisch, aber auch irgendwie rührend. Obwohl es nicht sehr taktvoll war, das ausgerechnet vor Arwen zu machen! Éomer hat sich aber gut aus der Affäre gezogen. Aber wie kannst Du ausgerechnet jetzt abbrechen? *grummel* Das nennt man Cliffhanger! Ich kann das nächste Kapitel gar nicht erwarten, bzw. was Éomer und Lothíriel sagen, wenn sie sich unter *den* Umständen wiedersehen! | What a great Eomer chapter. We see him as a king concerned for his people, as a friend, as a man. And I hope we're about to see him as a lover! Author Reply: Oh yes, you are going to see Éomer as a lover - but definitely as a lover of the different kind. | |

| I love being Eomer's head like this. His thoughts about his land, his people, his king, whether he wants to be king and all that entails, is just a grand look into his person. How he interacts with others is amusing too - intimidating Faramir, however briefly... I think Faramir will learn to deal with him well!, the annoying Amorothos... I would strangle him too... then Elfhelm - someone who would put him him in his place if he needed it. Yet when we see him with Arwen we know that beneath all the gruff exterior words of honey can flow. And I can't wait for him to meet Prince Imrahil's daughter :>) Author Reply: How to write from the point of view of a man as a female writer? Well, think about what you would do in a certain situation - and then let your character do the opposite. | |

| I'm glad to see that Eomer can't get the healer out of his head. The past months have been frantically busy - and she's still niggling at him. I like the way he interacts with others - Faramir, Elfhelm and Amrothos are very different and he reacts differently with each: teasing Faramir (poor man - he's not quite sure what to make of it), friends with Elfhelm - yet in authority - able to be himself more than with any other, and irritated by Amrothos. I must say I rather like Amrothos, though - he can be witty and I definitely get the feeling he is very intelligent. The problems of Rohan are going to be very much on Eomer's mind, too. Wars don't just end and go away - I'm glad to see the aftermath considered. Even the aftermath of blond children being born in Minas Tirith. Clever of Eomer to wrong-foot Gimli over the Galadriel question - and he is most definitely more inclined to moon over dark maidens! Author Reply: Oh yes, I'm thinking about Amrothos as a very intelligent guy but as a third son he hadn't had a real opportunity to use this intelligence in a constructive way. He had never been faced with a true challenge in life. | |
