Ok... that's at least 2 chapters in a row I've cried, young lady. :) This story just goes beyond words. You are amazing.

Hello, Just checked on the sack of Nargothrond bit (it was driving me nuts that I couldn't remember it clearly), and it was in the First Age (according to Encyclopedia of Arda, it was sacked in approx 496 First Age, whereas Imladris was founded in approx 1695 Second Age (not long before the Last Alliance, as Gil-Galad was negotiating with those from Numenor and Elrond was off trying to gather folks together and flee Sauron). But like I said earlier, if you change 'mural' for 'painting', it is far more transferrable and shouldn't make anyone blink. :-) Hope that helps. Author Reply: Thanks. :) Thing was, though, Celebrimbor was the one who made the rings of power: he lived in Nargothrond, yes, but survived its fall and went to live in Eregion. There he established the 'Gwaith-i-Mirdain' - a grouping of master crafstmen in Eregion, and it was their skill that Sauron used in teaching them how to make rings of power. Eregion was then sacked by Sauron when Sauron made a grab for the Rings, gaining all but three (as we all know) - and Celebrimbor was slain during the attack, so in 1697 of the Second Age. Therefore he was around, in the region and alive when Imladris was being built.

Hehehe, yup, still one Glorfindel! I had one little question on this chapter: Didn't Celebrimbor die before the establishment of Imladris? Your having him paint a mural (which I took to be something relatively permanent and unmovable) made me a little confused. I may have misinterpreted it though, and if so, I appologise. If not, could he have done a painting instead of a mural that was somehow saved before the sack and fall of Nargothrond? Still, it was a moving notion that Glorfindel could share this with Penny, and that someone so involved in all that was happening, and who had met such a black and horrible end, had painted such a reverent and peaceful image. Author Reply: i will check that about Celebrimbor, thank you. I had understood the attack on Eriador to have been after Imladris was established. *wanders off to poke her canon beta* ;)

What a difficult farewell. And they will be bound to resent her silence at times - when something particularly awful has happened. However much they know she is right to keep quiety about the outcomes.
