"Frodo did not look scared. In fact, he looked very much asleep." LOL! But Pippin does not give up so easily, he has a mission! A wonderful little story! I loved it that the warm golden light of being enclosed both of them in the end, not only protecting Frodo but also his little cousin. Author Reply: But Pippin does not give up so easily Of course not. When he wants to protect his cousin, his cousin simply has to be afraid :) Thank you, dear. I'm glad you enjoyed this.

A beautiful little glimpse into the root of the relationship between Frodo and Pippin. It was funny to read little Pip's determination to "protect" his cousin when he was in need of comfort himself. It formed a lovely counterpoint to the decision in Pip's determination in "A Bond Between Us" to not let Frodo go into trouble alone, even though he was himself afraid. One of my favorite themes of the tales and P.J. movie telling of them is that of watching Pippin grow up and learn to care for his cousins as they have cared for him all of his life. Lovely tale! Author Reply: I like "discovering" the early years of my favourite hobbits in this special way. Pippin, for me, always had a certain Tookish determination - and of course he would never admit to be frightened himself. The friendship - especially that among the hobbits - is one of my favourite themes in the books as well and I'm always glad if I manage to show my view of it to others. Thanks a lot.

I'm so glad you posted this here! Thank you again for writing me such a wonderful present! I forgot to mention in my comments to you over on LJ how much I love Pippin thinking he needed to "protect" his "frightened" Frodo. All the little details of the first few paragraphs are just perfect, especially this section: Tiny, naked feet hurriedly patted along the corridor, then Pippin clutched yet another knob and swung open the door in a quick movement. A mop of tousled hair appeared in the bedroom, and only moments later the door closed with a silent 'pang'. Pippin listened intently, his muscles tense like a bowstring, but there was no movement outside. No one had heard his desperate flight to his cousin's room. No, it was no flight, it was a mission; Peregrin Took's quest to calm down the wrath of a thunderstorm - and the wrath of his own restless heartbeat. *loves* :D Author Reply: You are most welcome, my dear. I'm glad you enjoyed this story so much, and for the descriptions - you know I'm very fond of loooooong descriptions :) *hugs*

So, Frodo's Light of Being in your story is warmer than in mine. Lovely, though. Very lovely, watching over both. Author Reply: For me his Light has always been warm. I like the thought of those you don't expect it from perceiving it.
