Thranduil with puppies and kids is so cute. Oropher kept gold and refused alliance- they should first ask him and later give gifts :D. Celeborn should have predicted that answer. Author Reply: Thanks! :)

Have I ever missed your updates. Please, soon? I think that's all I can say. I hope you are well, and that finals go well, and take care and God bless, ~silentplanet~ Author Reply: Ah, you haven't forgotten about me! The good news is that the next chapter(ette) is finished, but unedited. My homework has hardly given me a moment I can call my own. I meant to have it up this week, but the term papers came down with a vengeance. So, hopefully there will be an update very soon! ^_^

hi there!!! i loved this chapter as well as the other ones. you may have noticed that this is the first review ive sent, but in reality, ive read your first and second story on the "we were young once" series, but it's jus that i didnt have time to review. well, i understand about classes ruling your life... it's happening to me too. well, i thought it would be nice to know that youre not alone... i'm suffering badly. you see, i'm only in the 8th grade and already i'm staying up till 3 or 4 in the morning. it's not always like this, it was just that my history teacher sprang up a project on us: we had to invent a machine from the colonial times that had to have lots of moving parts and it had to look appealing and look colonial, and we only got 2 weeks to do it, and it had to be unique. well, i spent the entire first week thinking, the second week planning everything out, until i actually began on saturday with only four days left, since it was due wednesday. i actually stayed up until 3 during those two horrid weeks. i'm not usually a procrastinator, but this i had no choice. and this is ONLY 8th grade, wait until sophomore and junior year of high school *shudder*. in conclusion, i loved it when thranduil climbed the tree to his room. imagine what lindoriel would have done if she saw him like that... dump him, i suppose...LOL . I am sorry to tell you that i read this story the day that it was updated, and i never got to review till now. you see, its just these stupid classes!!!!! i bet you'd understand seeing as youre in the same predicament. well, please update soon, and i promise to review as soon as i read youre next update! luv, Lady Saruman ^_~ Author Reply: Late reviews are fine. ;) All you need to do is tell me it was your school's fault, and I'll understand completely! Remember the old days when we actually used to be able to sleep at night? Yikes, that does sound like quite a project. Ours are mostly along the lines of lots of big books to read and papers to write; pretty straightforward, but that doesn't mean easy. :P Let's see; we don't have classes tomorrow so that we can all go to the March for Life, which leaves me all afternoon for Tuesday's homework. Tell ya what -- I'm going to go crash in my dorm, read a few horrid books of Paradise Lost and then start the next chapter. ;)

Sorry to be so late in reviewing this...the new year has been too busy. I loved the opening with the dogs. I can so see Thranduil surrounded by loyal dogs and an elf would have plenty of time to perfect a beautiful bloodline. And I liked the children's awe at the way he climbed into the trees. But Oropher with the dwarves and Noldor! What other reaction could there be. Hehehe. And I am still laughing that he kept the gold and Thranduil lectured him. Thranduil in Ost-in-edhil ought to be very interesting indeed. :-) Author Reply: Oh, don't worry about being late; I know all about the new year being busy! Yes, Thranduil in Eregion will be facinating indeed. But now I just need to find a chance to write it. I've only been in class two days, but this is the first time I've been able to check my email since I got here. But, hey, what are weekends for? ;)

Wow. If I ever met Oropher, I can't imagine wanting to argue with him. He'd probably piss me off more than anything. BUT I still love him. He's dedicated to his family, though he's a tad greedy! Thankfully Thranduil is a levelheaded elf cuz he's gonna rule the kingdom! Well, I should say MORE levelheaded than his father because even Thranduil, yes our dear sweet Thranduil, is a little too protective of his gold. You capture their characters very well, Coriel. I'm always impressed. I like how you ended the chapter with Thranduil giving almost what sounded like an order to his father. It shows his maturity and strength. Okay, adios. Great job, and hopefully the next installment won't be so long off. Author Reply: Yes, of the four temperaments, I'd say Oropher is strongly if not predominantly choleric. They can be rather unpleasant, though with a few redeeming qualities. ;) Thanks; I do try to get their voices down. But it's hard now with the college brain-drain going on at the same time. I will strive mightily to write the next installment in a timely fashion, at least start it this weekend, but the plan is long and elaborate which I trust will make it worth it in the end. ;)

I am so glad to see a new chapter here! Puppies and children! He handles both very affectionately, nice to see. But, have he and Lindoriel not wed yet? It is amazing to realize their home is so (or appears to be) unguarded. How times will change! The throneroom scene was quite entertaining. ;) Good for Thranduil, sticking up for peace with his kin. Though I do not know how those envoys ever got the impression that Oropher could be bought off like that. Personally, I think he is right - rude! - but right about their trying to purchase his support and why. The rulers of Eregion or the Mirdain should have picked wiser emmisaries. Pity his personal feelings cannot but worsen the situation, unlike his son's. Very enjoyable and a good setup for a trip abroad by Thranduil. *hint hint* Author Reply: No, he's not quite ready to settle down just yet. But I assure you, that will change. ;) And yes, Thranduil is going to leave the woods for a bit. I can't wait; I've been planning this chapter for more than a year now! :D

Ouch! I can easily see how Celeborn and Galadriel will take offence after that display! Thranduil was quite right to berate his father for it. I absolutely *loved* the earlier scenes of a carefree, informal Thranduil with a lapful of puppies, and then the wild, reckless climb through the trees. It's an image of Thranduil we see far too rarely. Jay Author Reply: Oropher certainly isn't being especially tactful just now, but that comes of being rather full of himself at this point. Thranduil tends to be a bit more temperate. ;) At least he thinks for himself. Anyhow, sorry it took so long to answer my reviews this time; Christmas Break was winding down, and I got caught up in finishing some Gondorian wall hangings for a couple guys who thought their dorm rooms could use a touch of Middle-earth. :)
