The game that you call "stick in the mud", is known as "freeze-tag" this side of the Atlantic.

"Galadriel in particular made a point of talking to all who were not too intimidated by her. Widows and widowers, mothers who had lost sons or brothers, young children now orphaned, all felt their hearts calmed a little by Galadriel if she spoke to them, or even many of the other Eldar. There was such reassuring wisdom of the Ages with the elves that many Rohirrim felt their troubles, their pain eased for a while. The black despair lifted, and for perhaps the first time since the War was won they could see a brighter future in spite of all that they had lost."

This got me all teary. Beautiful.

Ah! I missed this update, but caught it with the next.

Poor Penny, not even aware that there's a great deal more to be mortified over.

For some reason I am hoping she never finds out.

So elves use that hangover cure with the whole raw egg, eh? What do they substitute for Worcestershire sauce in the concoction?

Poor Penny, what a terrible hangover! All in all, with her throbbing head and the teasing, she took it surprisingly well. Now, if Rhimlath and Erestor finally were able to decide *which* version of Westron Penny is about to learn, then the whole thing had at least *one* advantage! Oh, and *thank Goodness* Erestor was *not* there to translate!!

"This is Lindir we are talking about here, Pen-ii," Eleniel pointed out. "Of course it is too much to ask." I fear Eleniel is right, LOL!

Oh my, it was *Rhimlath* who ended up under the table? That’s certainly unexpected! *snicker*

I love this story!!!!!! It's great how you put Penny, the elves and humans in this story! Very real...I feel like I know every bit of their personality. That shows that this story is written in detail. Very unpredictable also, which I love! It makes it more angsty ofcourse. I have read some Mary sue's, but I mist the detail from caraters, inviorment, plot etc etc. The emotional part is HUGE in this story ( and the first one ofcourse). It'll make it easier to see the picture, you know.

I hope Penny is alright, but I doubt that. Having bad dreams maybe?? Of rohimmer women chancing after Penny with brooms * grin *....Whatever it is, it will bring up the tension and angst, which I love!!

Update sooooooooooon!!!!!!! Keep up the good work!!

Poor Penny. The hangover might be better than the returning memories - or the embarrassing hints of her companions. The image of Eleniel and Mireth performing Saturday Night Fever is just hysterical - and Lindir trying to discover the lyrics of that choice number 'I'm too sexy for my shirt'. Did she sing 'I will survive' too?

Mind you, it shouldn't need Elrond to point out that losing control is a very dangerous thing in her circumstances. Although the elves around her are very protective, they're unlikely to be there for her for ever. More and better Westron sounds a very good idea.

And have they just discovered that she is vulnerable to all those nice diseases to which men are subject?

Author Reply: She did indeed sing 'I Will Survive': "They had to stop her (Glorfindel literally put a hand over her mouth) in mid-flow of relating how she would 'survive, so long as she knew how to love, she knew she'd stay alive' as they passed the sentries on the gates. They felt, wisely, that her singing and dancing her way past the barrows of the kings would not go down too well." :)

Hi Boz!

I came to read this story on a recommendation from TithenFireder on Beyond Fanfiction (now The Ozone) and I'm so glad I did. For a good long while there, I had something to read every day! Lol. First the whole of Don't Panic and then you were updating this one on a daily basis - whee! I was most disappointed when you caught up with yourself. Heh. But then I went on holiday, came back and there was a new chapter! So I decided to finally de-lurk and let you know that I absolutely love this story. It's the first LOTR fic that I've ever read that didn't have Legolas as the main character (let alone even a secondary character) so that just shows how wonderfully engaging the story and characters are. As someone else said - you know elves! :o) Penny herself is fabulous and you've given such life and personalities to each and every elf that she comes across. Must say though that this latest chapter has ended with a rather ominous tone... what can be wrong? I do hope we don't have to wait to long to find out. And that it's nothing too serious...

And um, may I just join the "Penny and Lindir" brigade as well? *ahem*

Cheers
CC

By the way, you may or may not know, but TF has also posted on this site.

Author Reply: Well, thank you for reading and letting me know you have enjoyed it all so far. I hope it continues to entertain. :)

Ah the repercussions of over-indulgence. Poor "Penn-ii"! I loved the way Lindir was trying to dig out the lyrics of "Too Sexy for My Shirt", LOL!

And I fear that perhaps she has remembered what happened?

I can appreciate how Penny feels - its been many, many, many years since I felt the effects of a hangover, and of feeling still being drunk the next morning. I feel her embarrassment of not quite knowing what happened as some well meaning friend fills you in. Rhimlath's defence and reluctance to embarrass Penny is quite touching but I worry about his so called cure. Is it this that is causing to be so sick? I wait with foreboding yet bated breath the next chapter.
