Fields of Gold  by Levade 8 Review(s)

I find myself wondering if rabies or similar conditions run among sea mammals as well as land ones. Sounds indeed as if the Enemy is being quite vindictive.

Author Reply: Mmmm...it's not rabies. That would be easier in the long run, and yes the enemy is hitting as hard as he can. Thank you for reading!

I like the comfortable relationship between these characters. Glorfindel is as comfortable in Arwen's dressing room as he is annoying Erestor as he is checking up on the twins and rangers.

I feel for Elrond, and understand the need to want some time to be alone, and not be hovered over. Glorfindel needs the break too, whether he knows it or not, for watching over all of these hurting people is very wearing on the soul. And I am looking forward to seeing what is happening in the ocean.

Author Reply: He just makes himself at home anywhere, doesn't he? I suppose once you lounged in Mandos' Halls a bit anywhere else feels comfy.

Both of them need a break, agreed. The sort of break Elrond truly needs Glorfindel would give anything to grant him, but that's far beyond him.

Thanks for reading!

A road trip for Glorfindel - a splendid idea. I can see where Elrond would just need to get rid of him to get some peace. As well-intentioned as Glorfindel is, Elrond put it perfectly - he just needs to not have to pretend he's all right for a little while. I love the idea of Glorfindel comfortably ensconed in Arwen's sitting room. wading through dressing strewn across the floor. His exchange with Arwen was so comfortable and mutually respectful - I like the idea that he has instructed her in combat and gives her the means to defend herself. On the other hand, his relationship with Erestor is hysterical! I loved Glorfindel parking his dirty boot on Erestor's carefully polished desk.

And what's up with the dying birds and seals? It's so nice to see Cirdan featured in a story, and Bronwe is intriguing. She seems to have some history with Glorfindel. Very captivating story; I'm looking forward to more.

Author Reply: Rooooad trip!! *pushes away images of modern'ish fancies that fill her mind* Erestor's Bane is Glorfindel, yet at the same time, they have a grudging sort of companionship that centers around Imladris and Elrond's family. I doubt either would willingly give it up and yet, they definitely trust the other implicitly (unless it's paperwork, then Erestor knows not to let Glorfindel near it).

And what's up with the dying birds and seals?
Something Bad. *nodnod*

I'm a huge fan of the Shipwright. It's nice to promote him whenever possible.

Thank you, Meckinock!

Hey Levade,
Really nice story you've got going. So Our Glori has a love life? I think you should send him some one to drive him crazy like he drives Elrond & Erestor mad. (LOL) All your characters have great personalities.

Update soon

Eliza

Author Reply: Hi Eliza,
Thank you! I'm glad you like the story so far. I don't know if Bronwe will drive him as crazy as he does the rest, but it's worth a try. ;) Thanks again for reading!

Nicely done. I like the image of Glorfindel in Arwen's room amid all the feminine finery. And his handling of the twins was gently done. They'll be better off for thinking about Arwen and their grandparents.

I wonder what disease is killing the sea creatures. Sweet little boy.

Author Reply: Hopefully the plot will begin to show more in the next part. Thanks for reading and reviewing, Daw!

oooh! Glorfindel has a romantic interest in the form of a good friend of old, down there in Mithlond! That's great! I must say that I like this pestering Glorfindel a lot, and I can see Erestor easing his departure by ordering his things packed, his horse saddled and making sure that his lord sees him off and grants his a loooong leave.

And I like the healer, too. Is she an OC from other stories of yours?

Author Reply: Yep, with the twins and Glorfindel gone they can enjoy some well-deserved rest! Bronwe is an OC from Until We Rise (sounds like a doughy story, huh?) who just carried over. Thank you for the review and for reading!

I remember this! Vaguely it is true - but I'm so glad you're taking it up again. I like Bronwe - and so does Glorfindel!

Poor Elrond. Celebrian sailed, the twins half-mad with grief, Arwen off to Lothlorien. It's a wonder he survived this time.

I look forward to more.

Author Reply: Elrond definitely deserves the healing, rest and recognition I think he receives when he finally sails! I'm sure there were times he held the thought of being reunited with Celebrian to keep him going. Thanks so much, Bodkin!
