Poor Ferdi might make it home, but he'll need a full day in bed to get over his involuntary over-indulgence! And he's got to the confused point now where he's saying 'good' when he finds he's topping up the Ferdi-shaped brandy bottle! Not good, poor hobbit, not good! He'll be in the stable in disgrace with Nibs at this rate. Author Reply: LOL! I don't know how you do it, but you often make such prescient comments... Y'know, I don't think Ferdi has ever been hung-over before in his life! He's always been such a light drinker... and probably will be, again, after this.

"Ferdi stood straighter, suppressing a belch. He was a fine, upright hobbit, after all." " "He doesn't want to drink that stuff he won,' Jolly said. 'Wonderful weed-killer it is, but you don't want to drink it! It'll lay you low, and the head pain the next day... don't drink it! Pour it out, and not on any plants that you value, neither!' 'It'll make a wonderful birthday mathom, then,' Ferdi said. 'I'll give it to Pippin, or better yet, Merry, on my next birthday.' 'Just warn them it's weed-killer,' Jolly said, helping Tad lift Ferdi up into the saddle, for it seemed the hobbit's knock on the noggin had affected his balance; he needed help just finding the stirrup. 'I'll do that,' Ferdi said. 'Keed-willer,' he added, and laughed." Poor Ferdi, he's going to become a lush!!!! ROFL!!!! Pickled Hobbit!!!! Grand and Wonderful, a joy to read!!! Author Reply: A lush! Well, perhaps for one day. I think the hangover just might cure him of any future lushiness, however. Thanks for hitting the high points!

LOL! "Hones',ociffer, you're not drunk." That was the first thing that came to mind when Ferdi said, "keed willer". The more I think about it, the harder I laugh. I do feel sorry for him, though. He's gonna have the mother of all headaches once all the booze is out of his system, if it ever gets out; considering he's adding even more now that he's got a waterskin full of brandy. Looking forward to whatever happens next. GT. Author Reply: I'm sure I've heard that "hones', ociffer" comment somewhere before but I cannot place it. But I do remember the comedian Gallagher, and his bit about, "Anytime's a good time for beer! B.S.! ...traffic court! "Just a minute, judge, let me pop a cool one. ...weavin'! Heck, I can't even knit!" I am very glad to hear that I'm not the only one laughing. (People look at me funny when I laugh at my own stories...)

Oh golly, this just gets funnier and funnier. He's going to be in such a state by the time he gets home, he won't know up from down. *giggle* This is wonderful, and in spite of the knock on the noggin, I'd say you are at least somewhat making it up to poor Ferdi for all those years of angst! *How* many mufflers does he have now? And I love the thought of him giving the "keed-willer" to Pippin or Merry as a birthday mathom! *snerk* (I wonder which of them will end up stuck with it?) Author Reply: Poor solicitous Tad, making sure Ferdi keeps a steady level of sustaining brandy in his bloodstream. (Actually, there was no knock on the noggin, but Ferdi's too muddled to say so, and the way he's acting, everyone else just assumes...) I'm glad to make it up to him for all the angst. I just could not bring myself to write more Ferdi-angst for this story, poor hobbit. When I try to imagine him, lately, all I can think of is him and Nell snuggling on the sofa in front of a crackling fire. Thanks!

Poor, poor Ferdi, with a surfeit of liquor this night of all nights. And the currant wine makes better weedkiller? Oh my, poor thing! Author Reply: I do think that for the first time in his life, Ferdi is going to have a hangover. He probably *will* think he gave himself a concussion... Thanks!
