Oh, this is priceless!! There's one in every family. My youngest nephew was forever taking off his clothes when he was that age and has given the rest of us a deep well of stories to bring him up short w/when needed >:oD "Can cats me!!"...Poor Merry!! LOL!! Thanks for this adorable little tale. :oD Author Reply: It seems to be something that certain little ones just go through, to the chagrin of their families, LOL! Of course, it *is* embarrassing years later, to hear all about it. *grin*

So you finally got around to telling the whole story! I enjoyed it in its abbreviated form in A Conspiracy of Hobbits and thought at the time that it would be jolly fun to see an extended version of it. Thanks for the good laugh! Author Reply: Well, as you know sooner or later, all those little short anecdotes seem to get a fuller telling, LOL! I'm glad it gave you a chuckle! 8-D

*giggling* This was so vivid I could see it! Merry haring down the street after a chuckling (and increasingly bare) Pippin! He must have been a real handful as a little faunt. Had to laugh at the thought of Ferumbras holding him out at arm's length too! A crusty batchelor aristocrat would probably have this sort of reaction. Poor Merry must wonder what other scrapes his baby cousin will get him into. Great story! Author Reply: I'm so glad you got a kick out of it! I think Pippin as a faunt would indeed have been a handful, LOL! Yes, I couldn't see Ferumbras as being exactly good with children. And as the title suggests, this might have been the first time Pippin embarrassed him, but it certainly wasn't the last! 8-D

Maybe young Pippin would have thought twice about the strip if he'd only known how far word of it would travel. But, on the other hand, maybe not! Author Reply: *snerk* Probably not. It's clear he was impulsive from the start! (And yeah, imagine if Merry had repeated the story to the rest of the Fellowship--it would be known throughout two kingdoms--and then when Legolas got to Aman...Poor Pip! What a thing to be known for! But of course, he could have retaliated with Frodo's story about Merry...)

*ROFL!!* Poor Merry! That's certainly not what he had expected! And in plain sight of everyone! I only wonder how Pippin was able to run *so* fast while stripping down to his bare skin! Author Reply: *grin* That's what many a baby-minder has wondered in similar circumstances--how *can* they run so fast while taking off their clothes?

Oh, I can see this happening with an active little one like Pippin--and right into Fermubras himself? How hilarious! Author Reply: Yep. Smack into the crusty old Thain! *evil grin*

So what is embarrassing about chasing a Took in his birthday suit? *Grins with tongue in cheek* More moments please! Author Reply: *snerk* "chasing a Took in his birthday suit", LOL! *giggle* Oh there will! A whole lot! But soon I'll have to start on a new mathom room.
Queen Galadriel | Reviewed Chapter: 90 on 1/23/2006 |
Oh! LOL! LOL! Oh my goodness, that's hysterical! Yes, I can see baby Pip doing just that. LOL! Oh...oh poor Merry! Hahahaha! God bless, Galadriel Author Reply: *snicker* Well, this was one of two little anecdotes told at Frodo's Farewell Party in Bag End, before the Quest. I had long ago expanded on the story Frodo told on Merry, so I thought it was about time to expand on the one Merry told about Pip! And, yes, poor embarrassed Merry, LOL!
