And Frodo was light for Sam. This is my favorite scene in the whole book. I'm glad to read another bit of it. And my thanks to that orc who kept Frodo from being raped. Dear me, such darkness and hate then rescued by light and love from his brother. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

*Weep* *wibble* I knew when I saw the title, the story would provoke that response and they did! You capture Frodo's fear and abject misery so well. *sniff* You also convey his utter disgust with himself at his treatment of Sam so feelingly. You could feel his fears about what happened to Sam just tearing away at his soul! Their reunion was such a balm to read after the torment written of in the earlier pages. Both ends of the emotional spectrum was masterfully handled, my dear! "They would have to move soon, Frodo thought. But for the moment he was content to lean against Sam and be comforted." such a lovely line to end on. MM Author Reply: You may remember that this was the first LOTR story I ever wrote. Sorry it made you wibble but I'm glad you enjoyed the ending.

Pardon me--Baggins Babe. Now I AM embarrassed. It was so wonderful! Author Reply: Please don't be embarrassed - I do that sort of thing all the time! And being mistaken for Dreamflower is something of a compliment. Thank you so much for your kind words about the story. It was the first piece of fan fiction I ever wrote, but for some reason I never got round to posting it. I just wanted to fill in those missing hours from Frodo's point of view, and I'm glad you feel it worked.

A wonderful mixture of movie and book verse here, Dreamflower. And to see it all from Frodo's point of view--how very, very lovely.

On the one hand, that was unusually dark for you, I’d say, but on the other hand you’ve filled a gap Tolkien left in the books. Poor Frodo! What for a terrible experience to be threatened and molested in this way, and it is even worser that it was through Orcs. No wonder he considered suicide. The end was comforting, not only for Frodo, but for me as well. And Sam is so very right – Smeagol killed Deagol within minutes. while Frodo lived with Bilbo at Bag End for so many years without doing anything like that. I don’t think it mattered if he saw the ring or not – his influence was there. Author Reply: You're so right about that - neither Bilbo nor Frodo killed anyone, despite that Ring being in Bag End with them for years. I've always thought this must have been the most terrifying experience - to wake surrounded by Orcs, confused, weak, frightened ......... Sam arrived at just the right time - good old Sam, always reliable.

Their loving reunion is my favorite scene in the whole story - thank you for this! Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Thank you. I've always loved that moment - dear, wonderful Sam. He's such a reliable hobbit. I don't like putting Frodo through too much trauma but I wrote this some time ago and thought it was time to post it.

Well, everyone who read your first story here knows, that you are not only good at writing fluff. This one was great, very dark and so vivid. I liked the different dialects in the Orc voices and the reference to that particular movie scene. When I first saw it, I was shocked, but somehow it was perfectly fitting. "Galadriel was wrong about one thing, Sam. You are my light in dark places. Only you .......... always." Very true! Author Reply: Thank you! I sometimes worry that people get tired of the fluff! The Orc's shouted words to Frodo about what he would do after hearing the singing is taken from the book and always gives me a creepy shudder when I read it. Poor Frodo, those lost hours must have been full of terror and doubt. You will be pleased to know I've just updated 'Birthday Surprises' if you need an angst antidote! :-))

Greetings. I found you and your stories from your review of Shirebound's in-process tale about the Tower of Cirith Ungol. this one is a nice exploration. You really put us into Frodo's head. i find it interesting picking out your mixture of book and movie references. And that line, 'Sam, you are my light in dark places'.That is just lovelt. It really hits the heart of their relationship! Now I will have to go back and read more of your work. Author Reply: Greetings to you, and I'm glad you found me! I wrote this before ROTK came out, so there's only a little movie-verse, mainly in mention of previous events. This chapter has always given me the creeps and I felt I wanted to explore a little of what may have happened during those 'lost hours.'

Woah! That was a bit of a dark read before breakfast BB. But, all the same, a great expansion on the scene. Author Reply: Sorry about that, but I wanted to explore what may have happened while Sam was searching for Frodo. The Professor never tells us what happened to our poor hobbit during his captivity. It must have been very traumatic.
