| And the first reunion appears out of nowhere, and with one they were certain they'd not see again in Middle Earth. So glad they were thinking of the others just before Gandalf's arrival! Wonderful! Author Reply: Thanks very much, Larner! This part of the chapter always intrigues me. I love how impatient Gandalf is when he first meets Merry and Pippin here. It's a wonderful moment. How shocked the hobbits must have been! :) | |
