They are all preparing for what comes next, and Frodo continues to hang on, which is needful. And Sam will fight to the last.... Author Reply: I love hobbits so much. They're just wonderful.

Very nice little interlude. A quiet night in comparative safety, and lots of comfort for our weary hobbits. Thank you for giving them a bit of a respite.

shirebound, I could feel the wet and cold soaking into my bones. I'm glad you supplied Pippin to distract me as well as Frodo. You make me so proud of our brave hobbits and dear Aragorn. You are a wonderful storyteller! Pearl Took

I think one of the things that touched me most in this chapter, in addition to the wonderful influence Pippin has on Frodo - which is good to see. Gandalf and Elrond let him go on the Quest for a reason and you are showing a great one! But I was touched by how much faith and confidence Aragorn has in Elrond, that he can save Frodo. He knows without a doubt that they will be welcomed and the hobbits cared for, and that any chance Frodo has of healing will happen at his foster-father's hands. I like seeing your uncomplaining and fairly tough hobbits too. ;)

I love the "silly Baggins-silly Took" exchanges between Frodo and Pippin; the hobbits cover the heaviness in their hearts with this light banter and gives it real pathos. I also liked Frodo calling Aragorn "silly ranger". You make such wonderful use of the "empty days" between Weathertop and Rivendell, and this is much as I would picture it to be. I thought I'd leave my review for you here instead of FF.net; at least this window doesn't keep kicking me out.

OH, I just love this story. You do a wonderful job of portraying our sweet hobbits exactly the way I have always imagined them. I'm so glad to have a new chapter, and once again, can't wait for more!

Frodo is so . . . Frodo . . . here. Just quietly getting on with the job that has to be done, no complaints. And the other hobbits are supportive as always. Aragorn is strong and kind and gentle all at the same time and I love the image of Frodo finaly falling asleep between him and Sam.

Your description of Frodo's failing health is heart-rending. And bless sweet Pippin! Still giving it everything he's got after ten days. I love how Strider is willing to answer all of Pippin's many, many questions with good humored patience. And our stout-hearted friend Sam! How touching that he couldn't sleep until he pictured Mr. Frodo safe and well and reunited with Bilbo. *sniff* ::“Your grandfather led the Rangers, and your father after him?” Merry leaned forward. “And now… you do?” “Yes,” said Aragorn simply. Merry just looked at him thoughtfully.:: Its amazing! I can see the wheels turning in Merry's brain. I'm thinking he'll have Aragorn figured out before they even reach Rivendell.

Another magnificent chappie! Poor Frodo, your descriptions make it so that I can almost see him slipping off into the wraith world. Sam's resolution at the end was wonderful. I like how Strider seems to fo out of his way to make Pippin feel special(Thestar). Update soon!
