| Finally, after such a long time, I have come around to read I started them with this one, because I'm a devout Boromir fan, and you had me almost in tears at some places. Perhaps I'm a little wimpy myself. *g* In any case, this is an interesting concept, and well-executed, too. I also thank your for honouring poor Denethor, despite his flaws. This is deeply moving, the way you capture the emotions of your characters, the manner how you dare to explore it in such magnificent style. | what a wonderful story, agape. I was amazed at the genuine feeling created in your portrayal of Faramir's feelings. They felt so real to me I surprised myself with tears on occasion. The letters were so heartfelt, so full of longing, I felt I was seeing a fuller understanding of what he must have gone through to lose his brother, especially at that time. I also found myself thinking of my own siblings and how it would feel to lose them. That's how true it felt. The most poignant lines of all, for me, were: "This knowing that you are gone, for you would have brought the Horn with you, even broken, it was precious to you. Yet, here it lies on our Father's knees and it breaks further the bond between Father and Son. All your plans and strategies, dear Boromir, to bring us together, have been for naught. You, against your will, now lie dead between us. There is nothing I can do for him." That's enough to break anyone's heart! I loved also the role of Pippin as his scribe, adding his own two cents as he would do. And the small memorial service was so touching. And then imagine my surprise upon reading your notes to find you drew from your own experience of loss to write this. But no, I wasn't truly surprised, because it was so genuine, that just made sense. Tell your daughter that Faramir is not wimpy, just human. To lose someone so vital to your own being can be nearly incapacitating. He was brave and strong in that he went on despite what he felt. And I do hope Boromir heard your words too, but even more, I hope anyone else that has suffered like you - or Faramir - might read your words and be comforted. Powerful writing. | I have just finished saving your story to my home computer. Thank you. Thank you very much. I always liked the Gondor brothers, after I've read Evendim's stories on FF.net I loved them. "Faramir's letters" is another fine story to my collection of stories about these fine men. Please, write more stories. Best wishes, Dika. Author Reply: Hello, Dika, and thank you for reviewing these letters. I am madly in love with the men of Gondor, especially the sons of Denethor. I am in the midst of an epic tale about Denethor - but, of course, the sons are there and growing well... gosh I like writing about them - you might enjoy it - though it is a WIP and very long - Ten Thousand Years Will Not Suffice. I also just finished my first AU - but it is being beta'd at the moment - it started out being about a woman of Gondor, sister to Denethor, but the two boys quickly took over the tale... it is dark though.
