If this is too much trubbel trouble for you then you can give him back to me. LOL! Bilbo must have laughed when he read that sentence. (Of course, he would have had to stifle his laughter, to prevent Frodo from hearing. =))

"Since you get to have Frodo now you had better take good care of him." That lad means business, hehehe It's good to be so loved and cared for, Frodo is in good hands. Author Reply: I'm afraid little Merry did not mince his words. Fortunately Bilbo recognized the love in that letter, and the wise advice, even though it was coming from a seven-year-old. Bilbo will love and care for Frodo as best as he can, with Sam's help. And when Merry comes to visit he will be reassured to see how happy his Frodo is.

Oh, this is so sweet! I loved Merry's letter, and that Bilbo followed his instructions so faithfully. Author Reply: *chuckle* Bilbo was old enough and wise enough to recognize expert advice when he saw it, no matter that the said "expert" was only seven years old! LOL!

"If this is too much trubbel trouble for you then you can give him back to me." This was so cute! *squeaks and hugs Merry* Author Reply: Little Merry is so huggable, isn't he? *grin*

I wanted to snatch little Merry and take him home with me and feed him ice cream! He really is an adorable and precocious little thing but I love him to bits! The letter with the spelling mistakes and the wistful line: If this is too much trubbel trouble for you then you can give him back to me. was so sweet. Dear Merry, always watching out for his Frodo. Lovely! And Bilbo is a dear old thing.

Some very good advice there from young Merry - who must have spent a lot of time thinking about his cousin. I love the pepper information - there's Frodo being all polite about the peppery sausages, but Merry gets down to the business. And Bilbo has the sense to take the advice, too, regardless of it coming from a lad of Merry's age. Not many would. Some would have written a letter of complaint to Merry's parents about his cheek. Lovely tale. Author Reply: I think you are quite right. Merry *did* think a lot about Frodo--he cared too much not to. I'm not sure how much of it was conscious thought and how much of it was sheer osmosis, from spending as much of his time as he could in his older cousin's company. "...there's Frodo being all polite about the peppery sausages, but Merry gets down to the business." LOL! The differences between the two in a nutshell. Frodo would be polite, and not want to hurt Bilbo's feelings; Merry would be quite practical about it, and make sure Bilbo knew! Bilbo is just as fond of Frodo in his way as little Merry is in his own. But Bilbo is old enough and wise enough to realize that good advice is good advice, no matter how young the giver, especially when it is motivated by love. And he's got enough cheek of his own to be amused by and recognize Merry's own special brand of cheekiness.

Awww! :) :) Of course our dear little Merry would be sure to tell Bilbo just how to look after his cousin Frodo. You know, reading the letter, I was reminded of when I was little and my parents would go out for the evening and leave us with a babysitter. Mom would of course give instructions, and Merry is so cute doing the same! I love it! God bless, Galadriel Author Reply: LOL! It *does* sound a bit like one of those lists, doesn't it? Imagine little Merry "mother-henning" his older cousins! *chuckle* He never gets over it either, does he?

How well he does so, also! Wise little Merry, giving directions on properly caring for his cousin to Bilbo! Lovely, lovely! Thanks so much. Author Reply: Well, of course, Merry was not going to leave to chance that Bilbo knew what he was doing. And he would want Frodo to be happy, well, and comfortable in his new home. Otherwise, he wanted him back, LOL! I'm glad you liked it!

Sometimes he gets very sad. If he does then you must hug him a lot and tell him you love him and tell him stories to chir him up. If this is too much LOL! I can imagine little Merry writing just that. He seems to doubt some that Old Bilbo is capable of caring for his beloved cousin. And he has a solution quite simple, if Bilbo fails: Just give him back! Now, I wonder how this rabbit in your garden is faring ;-) Author Reply: I think Merry would have doubted that anyone besides himself could do the job, LOL! And at this point in time, I think Merry was sort of holding out hope it might happen. The rabbit is doing well, and is devouring half the garden...
