| Is Inglor somehow, in some mysterious way, Finrod? He even reads a bit like Finrod - he's very curious, asks lots of questions about mortal behaviour, and is clearly capable of forming strong bonds with mortal chicks. And doesn't seem to consider himself above her, as Finrod said to Andreth he didn't look down on humans. Author Reply: Thanks, Mopsy. Inglor does resemble Finrod in appearance and behavior. Inglor introduces himself as belonging to the House of Finarfin. He refuses to say anthing more about his origins. Not that Haleth has thought to ask him. At least not yet. | Apologies for the delay, I was out of town! Wow! A silver ring! *Chokes repeatedly* Now he managed to confound *me* LOL. Until they get rid of the Palantir? So it is kind of protection? Interesting! Poor Haleth, anyway, confined to the place and tortured by the housekeeper and the cat. I laughed at her anctics , though, trying to avoid the creature and even make him lose is composure, No wonder that she ended up under a tree. I am very much aware you were harmed in my place," he growled. This must be like a thorn in his side, I suppose. And yet she thought he was angry at her.. and voila! he produces a silver ring out of his incandescent rage. LEt us hope that fate keep them from completeing their task in the close future. I am enjoying this too much. Back to the roofs. Can Dragons smell coffe and chocolate at a distance? ;-) Author Reply: Thank you, perelleth. And it's me who should apologize for taking so long to respond. As they'll have to retrieve the palantir before they can get rid of it, Haleth might be wearing that ring for a very long time. Haleth seems to be extremely restless by nature. Without Inglor to take out her frustration on, she targets the cat instead. Inglor really is bothered by the poisoning. He seems to consider himself Haleth's guardian but, by giving her the treats, he was instrumental in the situation. It's too bad he doesn't think to tell her what the ring is actually for. He seems to assume she'll understand. But the story is set four years after the War of the Ring. For Haleth, rings have a bad reputation. She takes it because he wants her to have it, but she's far from comfortable with it. And it's out of the question that she'd admit to being ignorant and ask him for the meaning of it. Can Dragons smell coffee and chocolate at a distance? Maybe somewhere there's a dragon who hoards coffee and chocolate the way others hoard gold and jewels? Thanks again. Haleth | |

| I love Erysa's strategy for keeping Haleth under house arrest. Talking her into submission. A technique long used most effectively by mothers. I'm not surprised that Haleth greeted Inglor with a demand to know when they were leaving. But I was surprised at the silver ring. On the index finger no less. And I imagine Haleth was more than a little disconcerted. But Inglor the 'grim, terrible and enraged Elf Lord'! Incandescent with rage! That's not what she is used to seeing. He is really coming out from behind the shield of golden glory - and making sure that everyone knows that Haleth is under his protection and they had better beware of ill-treating her. So Haleth is having trouble sleeping? At least she is still comforting herself with the thought that their relationship will end shortly. Not sure she's right. (Hope she isn't!!) Author Reply: Thank-you, Bodkin Erysa seems to be a fairly good judge of character. She knows Haleth won't be deliberately impolite and uses that to keep her in the house. Haleth was bored until the entire incident with the ring. Now she's confused and very uncomfortable. She could always ask what the ring means, but she'd have to admit...to Inglor, no less...that she doesn't know. It's not likely to happen any time soon. Inglor momentarily lowers the mask he usually presents to the world. Under the circumstances, it's understandable. He's been fretting over the recent experience for days, trying to figure out how to forestall another attempt on her life. He finally thinks he knows how to protect her but she is both oblivious, ungrateful, and rubs his nose in the situation to boot. Small wonder he's angry. Haleth | |

| Hi, Haleth.... you have got me SO hooked on this story that I check for updates daily....keep up the good work! Inglor is ... I find him so very hard to describe- miltilayered, innocent in many ways, but, I think he is starting to catch on to a lot, hence the ring. Am I close? looking forward to more...... Author Reply: Thank-you, Vampfan30. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to update. Real life has been keeping me awya from the computer. I'm glad you find Inglor interesting. He's certainly developed in unexpected ways. It's hard to say if he's catching on or if he's known all along and is just demonstrating he knows. I'd really hate to have to play poker with him. I can see him wearing a calm, baffled expression as he lays down a royal flush. | |

I loved the bit at the end..."She felt like an actor who had played a scene without benefit of a script or even of the vaguest hint of background story." Only Inglor knows and, for whatever reason, he's not saying. Whatever it means, you're right that Haleth just doesn't understand it at all. | I haven't been able to read for a while due to real life issues, so I was HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY to see all your updates. Poor Haleth. CHoking and bloody nose in dinner at Rivendale, beaten up by bandits, treated like a criminal by the Rangers,and now poisoned! If I was her I would start to think Inglor was a bad luck charm Author Reply: Thank-you, Kathy_SSF. I hope that life has settled down in a good way. Haleth does seem to be having a hard time of it. Inglor does seem to bring Haleth bad luck. I never actually defined the poison. It could be belladonna which causes hallucinations and a rapid heart beat. | I like how this story is evolving, it keeps getting more and more interesting. So Haleth gets to see an other side of Inglor, him being like a quote: 'grim, terrible and enraged Elf Lord' She should have know he can be like that.. most elves have that side. And than the ring he give's her.. this sound interesting... why would he give her a ring to keep at least until the palantir is in the possesion of King Elessar? Author Reply: Thank-you, Fire. The story has moved in several unexpected directions. Yes, Haleth probably should have suspected Inglor capable of great rage, buth although she knows their histories, Haleth doesn't really understand elves.
