Ah, been a time since I read this one. I NEEDED the chuckle this morning! Heh!

The sort of error that Pippin's kind friends and relations will still be harping on about when he's Thain. Although by then he will at least be inured to it. Can you just imagine him when he is making his first tentative experiments in lasses - and Merry reminds him about evil neck romancers? He'll be somewhere between dying of embarrassment and wanting to commit violent acts on his cousin. The only one who will probably avoid the subject will be Reginard. For obvious reasons. Author Reply: They'll never let Pippin live this one down! Nor Reggie either, but at least he can hope to someday level the playing fields by catching his brother at something. Then he won't have to worry about owing him anything any more. :) LOL, that is just the sort of thing Merry and Vinca would do! Poor Pippin will have to keep those experiments to himself for as long as he can, but with Vinca around, there won't be much hope of that.

Heeheeehee! Reginard the unwitting neck romancer! LOL! This is hysterical. Poor Pippin, all wound up over this. I love that Pervinca calls him "Pigeon" too. Is there a story behind that nickname? I can just imagine what Gandalf would think of it all. It would be fun to see Merry tell this as a campfire story while on the Quest, embarassing Pippin in front of everyone. Heee! Thanks for the funny ficlet :) Author Reply: Reginard got the short straw here, that's for sure. A nice, quiet afternoon alone with his lass has been ruined. About 'Pigeon': Pippin takes pride in being named for a falcon, and a pigeon is about as far removed from a falcon as you can get; indeed, peregrines hunt pigeons. 'Pigeon' also sort of rhymes with Pippin. And, most importantly, it annoys Pippin. :D Ah, big sisters, whatever would you do without them? I'm sure this story, and many others, came out during those many long, boring days of walking during the Quest. You know Frodo will be hearing about this at least! As soon as Merry can pick himself up off the floor, he'll be penning a letter to Hobbiton. ;) Thank you so much for reading!

evil NECK-ROMANCER grooann That is just too perfect! I knew as soon as Pippin said that someone was sucking her soul out, that he'd caught a couple of tweens in a compromising situation, LOL! But the way it played out--too, too funny! And poor Reggie, he's going to be the butt of cousinly blackmail and embarrassing jokes for years! giggle I just love Pippin in this. He knows what he's talking about even if no-one else does. I'd love to see him remembering this when he's grown. How about a sequel at Reggie's wedding--a perfect time for the cousins to bring up this lovely bit of family history and embarrass the groom! Author Reply: LOL I can just hear Ev's speech to the groom right now: "Why, I remember the time we found Reggie and Opal in the sitting room..." Somehow, I don't think Reggie will be naming his brother best man. ;) He will never live this down, though there is always the hope that it will occasionally be forgotten. Reggie will have to move quickly to level the playing fields again and find Ev doing something he shouldn't be doing. Pippin must have been thoroughly confused listening to Bilbo tell the tale of the neck romancer, and he's even more confused now! He'll figure it out in a few more years and Merry will be keeping this memory alive so that he doesn't forget it! Reggie's not the only one who isn't going to live this down. ;) Glad this gave you a laugh. Thanks for reading!

He was sucking out her soul and she was groaning in pain! I think I knew what was going on from this point. But I didn't expect the pun. Neck-romancer? Too too too clever. Author Reply: I thought I'd throw a clue in there. The hardest part was keeping Pippin from saying the punchline before it was time and ruining the joke. :D Thanks for reading!

LOLOLOLOLOL That was funny! I loved Pippin's ideas in this. Funny how that word breaks down isn't it? Great story! Author Reply: I can just picture Pippin sitting there as Bilbo is talking about the evil neck romancer and getting all sorts of wrong impressions! It's funny the way kids hear things - and then unwittingly get their older cousins framed. ;) Thanks for reading!

snort Adorable! How does Pippin put up with these dense older cousins of his? Can't they understand anything important? Oh, this is wondrous. wanders off, grinning and chuckling Author Reply: Older cousins can be so useless sometimes, can't they? They just can't see the direness of the situation. Thankfully, Pippin was able to keep his head and get the job done. ;) Give him a few more years and he might be able to see the humor of the situation. Glad this gave you a laugh! Oh, oh, oh, I'm still giggling. This is precious and absolutely hysterical, and I think the funniest thing was Pippin's seriousness, and his impatience with his cousins and his sister who couldn't stop laughing long enough to explain to him. I could see him perfectly, standing and glaring at them while they rolled on the floor. Author Reply: Confused!Pippin has to be my favorite. He's just so adorable when he hasn't a clue what's going on - and he was so sure that he knew exactly what was happening! His sister and cousins were being very unprofessional and uncooperative with the rescue effort. lol Thanks so much for reading! I'm so glad this gave you a laugh! :)
