Your Heart Will Be True  by Write Sisters 3 Review(s)

Hmm… *eyes narrow suspiciously* Erynbenn’s alive… For the time being at any rate. Which I suppose means I can hold back on the “OR ELSE”… For the time being at any rate. *eg*

LOL! Oh now this is just incredible… He’s lying there, nearly dead, barely conscious, and what’s he thinking? He wants to know if Faramir wants his report now! Those stubborn Rangers… *shakes head*

Ha! Yeah, that’s the way to go, Bartho - guilt him into recovering! Good idea, reminding him of his wife like that… *g* Poor Erynbenn, though… Of all the things he needed to hear, the fact that nearly all of his men got killed was *not* one of them.

Alright, that’s it. Mavranor has now definitely confirmed her position in the top ten MUST DIE list. *growls* Yes, Halda, regrets are good, disgust is good, feeling pity for Gondorians is good, not liking Mavranor is definitely good… NOW DO SOMEHTING ABOUT IT ALREADY! *shoves knife into Halda’s hands and pushes him toward Mavranor*

LOL, oh these leader-hero-types are sooo lucky to have lieutenants to look after them. If they didn’t, they’d manage to starve, work themselves to death, and die of sleep deprivation and/or untreated wounds in the middle of a well-protected, well-stocked camp. *g* Lucky for Faramir, not only does he have a faithful lieutenant, Beregond has already more than proven that he’d rather die than let anyone harm Faramir. Hehe, though methinks from the way Beregond's been behaving, he could use a faithful second of his own...

Poor Beregond! The very thing he’d intended to make sure that Faramir was safe, wound up being what gave an assassin the clue he needed to find out where he was. Talk about the ironies of life…

Whew! Honestly, even though I was quite sure from the beginning that Faramir was one person you wouldn’t kill off, once that assassin actually started sneaking into camp I found myself getting so tense and scared and wrapped up in what was happening that I completely forgot that I knew he wasn’t actually going to succeed! LOL, luckily, Faramir appears to have been taking lessons from Bartho as regards expecting the worst. *applauds soldiers’ preparedness and quick reflexes* Something tells me that assassin’s actually lucky Faramir mortally wounded him - breaking the news to Mavranor would likely have earned him far worse.

Ack, I really must run! Things to do, places to go, suitcases to pack … See you again next time!

Wonderful chapter (especially since no one’s dead yet)! Looking forward to more! (especially if no one else dies. *pauses* On second thought, I’d make an exception for Vardnauth, Mavranor, and certain Haradrim and Corsair soldiers.)

P.S. Oh, I’m glad you’re enjoying that Ivanhoe! It can be so hard to find really good versions of books like that, can’t it? Always such a surprise when you can find something even partially satisfactory :-)I am curious as to what you think of De Bracy now... Am I the only one who feels terribly sorry for him?

P.P.S. Ooo, which SP books have you read? I’ve read nearly all of them now… My personal favorite would definitely have to be Eldorado - I’ve re-read that one *so* many times! And Triumph of the Scarlet Pimpernel has some particularly wonderful parts. LOL, conversations between Percy and Chauvelin that make me giggle just thinking about them… *g* Hmm, and which “more recent” version is it that you like? Would that be the one with Antony Andrews and Jane Seymore, or the A&E one?

Author Reply: *wipes forehead* Whew. Well, that's a relief! *grins* I don't think we'll give you cause to 'or else' us again on Erynbenn's behalf in this story, but you know... it's been so long since I've read parts of this fic, that I'm having a hard time remembering... *looks anxious*

Bartho cares deeply about a lot more people than he thinks he does, but all the same he will never be the coddling sort. Up-front and ever-practical, to him the salient points of the situation are: Your men have died (as men are wont to do in war), but you are alive and you have a wife and son waiting at home for you (not to mention me, here). *grins* And he knows that what you tell people is often a lot better than what they will imagine if left to their own imagining. Even if reality seems improbably awful.

*obediently moves Mavranor to top of 'must die' list* There may be a slight delay on this -- you know how it is with paperwork!

*watches Cami shove a knife at Halda* Oh my. Well, keep at him! Who knows? He's still pretty scared of her, though.

*laughs* Glad you like Faramir and Beregond's interactions! I totally agree -- good leaders would fall to wrack and ruin without their faithful seconds. And Beregond could indeed do with a Beregond of his own...

*rueful look* Happily this particular irony will never be made known to poor Beregond. It'd just make him feel guilty over nothing.

*looks altogether too eager* Did we freak you out? Oh goody! I mean, er... sorry 'bout that. It's always rather fun putting unkillable characters in dire situations. And no, Mavranor would have had no sunshine to spare for a failed assassin.

You're packing too? What a coincidence! So are we. *grin*

More is on the way, and I believe nobody dies in this particular installment... pretty sure, anyway...

Ivanhoe was great! I'd have loved to see it done with slightly better technology, but generally when you add technology you have to sacrifice story accuracy, so maybe it's better off as it is. Ivanhoe himself was excellent, and I loved Wamba and Robin Hood! Those three were my favorite characters from the book. DeBracy definitely came off better in the movie. He was the only honorable guy in a sea of debauchers, for one thing. I still couldn't condone his methods, of course, but I did feel sorry for him.

And I've read the original 'Scarlet Pimpernel', and also 'The League of the Scarlet Pimpernel'. I'll have to see if I can find any of the others at the library. The movie version with Antony Andrews is the one we own, yes. Was the A&E version any good?

Thanks for the fantastic review!! We loved it, as always! *hugs*

Can you stop killing the Gondorions and start killing the ones that deserve it? Seventeen out of 200 survived?!! I hope we have enough Gondorions left to defend the kingdom until Aragorn arrives.

"..snakes do not have lips"...GREAT LINE! I've a feeling that Halda will be one of the downfalls (if not THE ONE) of Mavranor. I felt his disgust towards her---don't blame him. She's so vile!

The attack on Faramir was really scary! Great job describing it! My heart was palpitating! I am so glad Faramir got the (excuse me) SOB! Brilliant job. Totally wonderful chapter!

Author Reply: *grins sheepishly* Will you take a rain-check on decimating the bad guys? We promise, we're not just sadistic. We based poor Erynbenn's massive defeat on various Civil War battles where, on several occasions, whole companies (groups of up to a hundred men) were left with only two or three foot-soldiers still alive. Ultimately, as dumbfounding as such a defeat sounds (how can they keep *fighting* after that??), it doesn't drastically affect the size of the army. Certainly Faramir is starting to run low, but there's plenty of fight left in this group! *grin*

*bounces* Glad you liked the snake line! We do love it when you tell us specifics! And that's interesting what you said about Halda... If I say more, my sister will hurt me, but all the same: it's interesting! *grins*

*hugs RS* Thank you, thank you! SO glad you liked the battle! *hands RS glass of water and box of chocolate* I'm not sure how to cure heart palpitations, but hopefully that will help. *grins*

Thank you for the wonderful review!

Faramir is certainly not an easy man to kill, even when surprising him in his sleep!

I loved the interaction between Faramir and Beregond; and Faramir relaxing by fixing the bridle.

I hope Faramir's men manage to catch Nulla and get some information out of him before he dies.

Author Reply: *laughs* Thank goodness, eh? What would we do without Faramir!

Very glad you enjoyed Beregond and Faramir together! There's so much history between them; it makes them very fun to write.

Unfortunately, Nulla's pretty much dead at this point... We always give the characters we love best the worst luck!

Thank you for the review!
