Oh man.... that's awful. I mean... the scene telling was wonderful... but the sadness and waste of the scene... sigh.

Yes, the sacrifices were well made in the end; yet costly and painful nonetheless. BTW, I'll warn you that I, too, have a claim on our favorite Ranger-King. Now, I have to decide if I'll share with YOU! Heh! Author Reply: Just like in all wars, victory comes with such a high and painful cost. I have claimed him (and some of his aliases) on three separate sites. I win ;)

Poor Halbarad. Aragorn must have been numbed at this point. So much happening, so much still to do - and no time to stop and consider individuals. But I'm sure that, later, having done what he could for his kinsman's body will be a comfort to him. Author Reply: I could only imagine how Aragorn, and every other survivor felt after the battle. There were too many to treat every single individual body as they normally would. I would certainly imagine it numbed them.

Ohhh, how heartbreaking... and yet how valiant and strong and noble. We learn so little about Halbarad from the books, and yet as authors we can bring him to life and learn about him, and about all those who loved Aragorn and Middle-earth, and fought with all they had. Author Reply: *nod* That is one thing I absolutely love with fan fiction. Tolkien left us so many plot holes to fill in, and he just gave us so many things to work with. It's absolutely great.

Oh, ow. A fine tribute to a fine soldier. Author Reply: Thank you. It was painful to write; I love Halbarad.
