Information received numbly. Probably better than vocally at this point. It must have come as a dreadful shock. Followed by an wave of horror at the responsibility. Possibly accompanied by pride. But it will take him time to adjust. Author Reply: Seeing how he was feeling the next day while he was wandering the forests of Rivendell, the pride came pretty quickly. I think realization of the responsibility *really* hit him once he was with the Rangers, personally.

Yes, I think it would indeed happen in much this way. Author Reply: I'm glad you think that it would ^^ Thanks!

What a shock this must have been for Aragorn! He's making his way as an adult Estel, establishing his identity for himself, and suddenly his world is turned upside down. And as Elrond thinks, what a burden. But even at 20 Aragorn must have been strong. Author Reply: Since the Dunedain live longer than mortal men, I imagine that at age 20 he was like a normal 18 year old, and being only a year and a half away from that age, I can only imagine having that large of a responsibility suddenly dumped onto my shoulders. But yes, Aragorn is strong enough even then, though he grows stronger as he grows older.

for eighteen years he has not been called by his true name That's a powerful line, and what a lot for 'Aragorn' to think about! The days following this one must have been interesting indeed... Author Reply: Oh yes, I would imagine so, with his lineage and Arwen coming into his life! I imagine there would be a few sleepless nights.

I like this Ainu Laire. A heavy burden indeed for Aragorn but it must also have been a grevious burden waiting to decide when to tell him! Author Reply: I would definitely imagine so, but when the time came, Elrond probably knew that this was the time to tell.
