| Hi there! I'm Mara Angel from Fanfiction.net. I didn't know that you have made a sequel to For the Love of the Lord of the WT and i am glad to have found it! Your story is full of beautiful moments. Friendship at his best. I like to see the others Companions brought together to the places some of them didn't see during the Quest. It can do nothing else than increase their respect for each other. I love to see Aragorn through the eyes of others, especially to illustrate the duality between the King and the Ranger. Do your entire story came to you from that scene in the book where Aragorn see a skeleton by a door on the Paths of the Deads? Clever to use this mystery of Tolkien and resolve it. To answer your question about the inspiration for the story: yes! that scene from the book with the skeleton by the door on the PoD has always intrigued me, and I've often wondered who that man was. There was something I read in the Silmarillion that suggested who he might have been, but I simply could not find that reference again - so I created my own story. :-) I'm glad you like it. | What a wonderful homage to the courage of two little hobbits. Yes, I think all this needed to be said, and who could do so more beautifully! I loved that moment when they stood at the crossroads, and how familiar places can take on different meanings. On their journey Frodo and Sam followed Gollum, and he betrayed them in the lair of Shelob. Now the company is being followed by the Shadow Host, and I can’t help feeling that once again there is treason ahead in that place. Don’t let them go there! And who better to express this than a brave little rodent herself? :-) Oh yes I just love taking bits and pieces of canon and weaving them into this story; it makes me feel like I am honoring Tolkien at the same time. I thought the shadowing of the fallen king's face would provide the perfect opportunity to highlight Legolas' fear again. You think there will be treason ahead, so don't let them go there? | Oh boy, "the faster I go, the behinder I get" So it seems I am a tad bit late with my review. 10 wet noodle lashes for me. Thank you for this chapter, heroes really are found in the most amazing places and I'm glad to see our brave little hobbits get their "kudos". Fine writing as always. I'm still not to trusting of our ghost buddies in the back? I wonder do they have to climb stairs too? | Very strange about the face of the stone king, being lost is shadows, like that. Very brave of Sam, to go up those stairs again, with the tunnel at the end. Nothing like a long climb, with a bunch of dead guys at your heels. Author Reply: A strange journey for them indeed: disturbing in some ways, yet moving. The climb is next. | hey, ya! still here & lovin' the story. This chapter concerning Sam was just amazing! It is exactly how I would see him returning to the place where he had thought ( for a while ) that his best friend had been killed by a giganamous spider. the inner workings of his gentle mind was right on target, I thought. As for our Prince, he sure is getting anxious about the whole deal, but, who can blame him after the dreams that you have put him through?! Make that boy talk a bit more- if he doesn't, he'll crack! Can't imagine a crazy elf....^_^ & our dear king, bless him for his insightfulness on how to solve the Dead's problems, even at great cost to himself. BRILLIANT!!!!! Author Reply: Well, maybe our elf won't have a chance to go crazy. ;-) Actually, it was the elf who proposed the idea of getting rid of Shelob as a task the Dead could help with, but the King is certainly willing. | Ah, dear brave Sam! That was a wonderful tribute to the courage of Sam and the departed Frodo.Each step was a reminder for Sam of the terror he and Frodo had endured and yet he carried on, for Aragorn's sake.Such courage! Your words are so beautifully written and this chapter was exquisite in the way it conveyed Sam's bravery and the darkness that still affected the land.I also felt exhausted by the time the group reached the stairs! I can't wait to read more of this story.Just what will the group encounter when they reach the end of the stairs? Update soon! Ali. Author Reply: You felt exhausted along with our heroes? Good!
