Light from the West  by Armariel 3 Review(s)

I haven't read "Bear Me Away," but this was recommended to me, so I've been sitting here having the best time for like two hours! So much for a productive day, but I don't feel like repenting. :) I love the world you've built on Tol Eressea, though it is very different from mine, and my, what interesting original characters! The children are adorable, especially Lyrien. She's so cute and sweet and innocent! :) And how sweet of her to make a Frodo and Sam doll, and another Frodo-doll for herself. :) Galendur and Tilwen do make a very lovely couple, and they have such a sweet, warm friendship with Frodo. I love the way they've just made him and Bilbo a part of their family.

That Rudharanion fellow is...well...*rude*! Ugh! (Sorry for the pun, but I absolutely could not resist.) But I love Dundeloth, and I hope he does get to write Frodo's story! You know, for all Rudharanion (I am so tempted to give him a nickname, but I'll be polite and refrain from doing so :)) made me really mad, I am interested to see just how much he has twisted the truth of Frodo's story. I shouldn't wonder if he had Frodo and Sam storming the Dark Tower with swords, after Frodo threw the Ring into the fire.

BTW, it was so adorable that the kids played the quest. :)

Can't wait to see what happens next! Pleeeease update soon!
God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: Hello Dearie! Today is a holiday, so no repenting allowed!;);) I'm glad you discovered this and like my characters. I'll recommend "Bear Me Away" myself while you're waiting on the next part;) Lyrien, Galendur and Tilwen are all introduced in that one, along with the first Frodo-doll *g* and others. The story of how they become friends you might find amusing, and Bilbo is a prominent character throughout. If nothing else, read the first chapter, which was originally a stand-alone story that I ended up continuing and expanding, and tells of Frodo's genesis as a poet, the forging of his bond with Elrond, and the beginning of his road to healing, faith, and joy.

Rûdharanion IS a bit rude, isn't he? In fact, I think that's why I chose the name...I got it when I put "John Donne" through an "elf-name generator", which I use to find names for my Elf OC's. Not that I don't like John Donne--I tried the names of several great poets, but I end up choosing the names for how they sound and how they fit the characters, rather than for what they mean. (To get "Dûndeloth" I used "William Shakespeare"!) You can nickname him if you like, LOL I think I'd have given him a shorter name if I had known he was going to stick around for so long! And yes, about him having F & S storming the Dark Tower--well, yes, that IS pretty much the sort of thing he would be likely to come up with!

And I bet Frodo never thought he'd see kids playing him and Sam...especially elf-children...heheh

Thanks so much for the R&R!

It is sad to think how stories become twisted over time. And, of course, soi-disant chroniclers like the lovely Rûdharanion don't help. I doubt his version of the tale bears any resemblance at all to what actually happened.

I like the elven light-house!

And flibbertygibbet is just such a great word!

Author Reply: It IS a lovely word, isn't it? heheh I dare say Rûdharanion's version is...ummmmm....well, I'll let Frodo tell us himself, when he gets a look at it! Only, being a gentlehobbit he'll probably be much too polite about it! lol "Soi-disant" (sounds French) is a new word to me but I think I can guess its meaning!

Not sure yet why the light-house decided to light up once more...it's a sign of some sort, I'm certain, but what, remains to be seen! We'll see, preciousss!

And hannon le once more!

Yes, the ultimate in egotism the fool is.

And now the lighthouse is glowing? I want to find out what this means.

Author Reply: Not really sure yet myself--the Muse made us do it!!! And she'd better have a good explanation!! Well, I think I know, maybe, but, well, we'll see, precioussss....

I think light symbolizes Truth in this tale...the kind with the capital T, you know..........
