Haven't much time, but I am so glad Rudharanion seems to be turning towards the light. I hate to say it, but that piece of Frodo's story (supposedly, anyway) is unbearable; but I guess I'll believe Frodo, and I would be moved as well, I think. But good gracious! Rudharanion is much too romantic! I don't know that I'd say Rosie actually came *between* Frodo and Sam; the love of a brother and the love of a spouse are two different things, after all. But poor Frodo, to have Galendur become friends with Rudharanion. I must commend our dear Baggins, though, for I never would have guessed he *hated* him from the way he acted at the tower. God bless, Galadriel Author Reply: Welll of course he didn't hate him at the tower, but he would never have guessed in a million years that Rudy might usurp him as Galendur's special friend...which he did NOT of course, but if he DID, then Frodo might feel he had cause to hate him, or might feel he really shouldn't but would anyway, etc., etc....he's human after all! And yes, Rudharanion is romantic almost to the point of lunacy! He is an example of perfectionism run amok (not an uncommon affliction of artists and writers, which may account for the self-destructive tendencies of some of them). I dare say he abides in the darkness, or rather the half-light, because the full light is too revealing, not of just other people's flaws and weaknesses but of his own as well, and came to the Island because he couldn't bear the ugliness of plain humanity and marred earth. But on Tol Eressea he has been forced to confront his own glaring imperfections, and perhaps that will be a wake-up call for him. He knows, deep down, that his version of the story stinks and he'll never finish it, and he knows why. Maybe he'll discover, once Dundeloth's epic is finished, that not ALL reality is so disgusting, and he'll be able to write his version and do it right. As for Rosie...well, see my reply to Antane, then I won't have to repeat myself so much *grin* hugs Armariel~~~{~@

I do love these letters, the loving gift Lyrien gave, the concern and prayers for "Rudy" and all that. I think that manuscript belongs in the nearest bonfire, but perhaps it's better where it is. I never thought of Rosie coming between Sam and Frodo - I think she was very understanding of such a deep, long standing friendship. Keep writing, Frodo! Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: So glad you're enjoying this! "Rudy" *giggle* Well, Frodo has admitted he's not much good at throwing things into the fire;) and perhaps the lovely things about the manuscript could be taken out and put to use in something else. I've wondered what would happen if my dearest friend were to dump her no-good husband and find a man who would love her and treat her as she deserves. On the one hand, this would be exactly what I'd want for her. Still, I'm also sure my worse half would feel that the guy came between us, and things would never be quite the same. Which they wouldn't, in fact. It did happen with another close friend, when she found a man and fell in love, and was blissfully happy; I was glad for her, and also a trifle jealous, and felt the man did come between us, for she seemed to have so little time for her friends any more, and when I'd make plans to go and visit her, something else would come up with her and I couldn't come. I contented myself with the knowledge that she was happy now and deserved to be so, since she is a fine person and has been through the wringer, and is more than entitled to some joy, and I wouldn't change things. I thought perhaps Frodo might have had some of those feelings at times, being, like the rest of us, an imperfect mortal *gasp*, and his worse half might have such moods once in a while. Thanks for the encouragement! Frodo thanks you too *g* hugs Armariel~~~{~@
