| In the book Pippin sings this song. It is part of a walking song that's a good deal more cheerful in context than it comes out in the film. But the interweaving of the movie version with Pippin's memories is beautiful. Author Reply: Yes, Pippin sings this song. The one I used was the movie version because it is more wistful and I love that song. I sing it to my little brother when he can't sleep. :) It has a lovely tune. Hannon le for the review! Namarie! | Btw-Harrowcat... I don't know who found the words, but I found them in part of a poem in HoME, and I think it made it to the actual book, as a poem in FOTR while Sam Frodo and Pippin are walking to Crickhollow. Just thought that was interesting. Author Reply: I know this was addressed to Harrowcat, but I found it intriquing as well. I looked it up in the book. YEs, it was written by Tolkein (Bilbo in the story) and sung by Frodo ( I think), but Billy Boyd or Howard Shore or both redid the words and invented the tune. | Aww Fro! If Pip singing that song in the movies doesn't make me get teary-eyed enough, this sure makes up for it! Lovely and so sweet, a heartfelt tear-jurker. That and staying up late. But you did get how his memories jumped forward in time? I mean...I had hoped that it wasn't confusing. | This is so sad but lovely. I seem to remember from the loads of stuff on the Extended DVD that Billy Boyd came up with the words for this himself. Or was it the Fran gave the words and Billy made up the tune?. Oh darnit...now I will have to go and watch it all over again to find out. What a chore!! *g* Author Reply: I think you may be right. | He was out there, Pippin knew. But somehow, Pippin could feel him here, in the room. He could picture Frodo standing by his side, smiling that smile of his that said, "I love you," better than any words. Very sweet. :D Author Reply: Hannon le!! I loved writing this.
