| Faramir coped well with having to stay behind. And they couldn't both have gone, really. Boromir is very frail - I'm glad he was given the choice of remaining with the elves, but, in the end, I'm not surprised he chose the more difficult path. He's never lacked courage. Author Reply: No Boromir, in my opinion, was a brave man, seduced by evil as were many others, but one who would never give up on his people under normal circumstances. | |

| Ack, jenolas – I kept meaning to e-mail you. I really hope all is well now. It’s great to have you back but you need to look after yourself first and don’t be worrying about us. I’m totally intrigued by this. I have no idea where you’re going with it!! Aragorn is right to try and be sensible about this. I mean, in terms of not rushing off straight away and going by boat to try to give Boromir the chance to come back with him. And not telling the people of Minas Tirith yet – they obviously loved Boromir and have already grieved his loss; they don’t need to have to relive that if it turns out that he won’t survive. I admit I gave a little gasp when he told Faramir that he should stay in the city! It says a lot about Faramir’s sense of duty and faith in Aragorn that he would agree not to go back to his beloved brother, especially when he knows that there’s chance that Boromir will still refuse to return. Haldir is really growing on me. He kind of reminds me of Faramir here, actually. He’s putting duty and love for Galadriel first, even when there are other things he wants to do. I do hope, for Haldir’s sake, that he sails soon. I think he needs it. Boromir’s dream was very disturbing. He clearly feels that he’s failed. What horror it must be to him to imagine that his people wouldn’t welcome him. I think it’s more than his body that needs healing. It was interesting, though, that the second he hears the anguished cries of his brother, he pushes his own feelings away. It’s a courageous decision. I thought it was a lovely moment when Haldir tells Boromir that he would have been welcome to join Celeborn’s colony of the elves who don’t sail. Though it sounds like Haldir hasn’t been telling everything he knows, eh?! I’d like to know what else Galadriel has seen for Boromir! I’m still thinking it might be a chance for Boromir to see that his people and home are in good hands, to make peace with himself and then move on. But who knows? Except you, of course, and I’m willing to let you lead me on for another while ;-) Author Reply: Dot! This must be the first fic I have written that you have admitted that! I hope you remain intrigued, perhaps you will have some idea what my plan is in the next chapter. Although I will say that all is not a bed of roses yet! And Yes, I like Haldir, too! jenolas | |

| I have read the whole story so far and like it much better than any of the other "Boromir lives" AU's--and there are tons of them out there. I hope Aragorn is able to truly heal Boromir so that he can return to Minas Tirith.
