| Misty, are you a twin by any chance? I am and this little story was perfect in the way it described what it is like to be a twin.Elrond would never feel like he was a 'singleton'---if you are a twin then you never feel alone even if you and your other half are not together.The connection is always there and I'm glad that Elrond was comforted by the visions of Elladan and Elrohir enjoying their life together. Great story, Misty. Ali. Author Reply: Hi, actually no, I only have a brother who is four years younger than me. I simply try to put myself in the minds of my characters. I take it as a great compliment that you think I described being a twin so well. Thank you for that. | Ahh - very, very sweet. I'm a sucker for anything with the twins, and Elrond's joy and wonder here is marvellous. His memories of his own twin are sad, but so very natural at this time. A lovely ficlet. Jay Author Reply: Thanks. I do like writing sweet stories every now and then. :) I do love writing the twins as well. And I agree that while Elrond's memories of his lost twin are rather sad, he couldn't help but think of him upon seeing his sons. Thanks again. | |

| Lovely - and the thought that these two would always be together must have brought comfort to an adar who had lost everyone who belonged to him. (At least he and Celebrian have 2500 years (ish) of happiness ahead of them before it all starts to go pear-shaped.) Author Reply: Thanks. I'm sure the thought of the twins having each other was a great joy for him. He had lost so many people in his life that I'm sure he intended for his children to never suffer the same loss. I think it's a very good thing that he didn't see what the future held for them all, so he could enjoy the time they all had together without reservation or fear. | |

| Lovely image here of the twins in their father's arms. And his concern for his sons' future together is wonderful. Hopefully they will be there for one another, unlike his own twin choosing mortality. Yet in the end I suspect Elros is there by Elrond's side, whether Elrond realizes it or not. Author Reply: True, I don't think even death would fully separate them. As long as Elrond is thinking of Elros and wanting to share the moments of his life, Elros is still there with him. And I do believe he would be concerned about one of the twins making the same choice Elros made, but he wouldn't let the thought bother him too much at that moment. I'm glad you liked it. | |

| Whatever their future held, however, Elrond was glad that they would be facing it together. What a wonderful vision of hope. Elrond had so few of those in his life. Author Reply: Thanks. I think that when a parent holds his/her child for the first time, the predominant feelings would be hope and wonder, and Elrond would be no different. He had to have at least a few moments like that in his life, where he could face the future with hope. | |
