the look of hurt, betrayal and shock What does he expect? Faramir to stand up in front of the traitors and tell them to stop? That would work, wouldn't it! Faramir's cunning plan is bound to make him appear treacherous - but surely Aragorn knows him well enough to trust him! Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I think Aragorn expected Faramir to come in with a troop of soldiers and whisk him away from his captors. After being chained in a dark cellar fror weeks, Aragorn's perceptions are no longer clear.

That would have broken Farmir's heart to hit Aragorn like that. I would also think that it will send Aragorn spiraling down into despair. Before he would have some hope of rescue but now to see his friend... his thought bonded brother treat him like that might be more than he can take when he is so weakened already. Though maybe since they are so close together they can speak through their minds... I can't remember if they can do that from some distance! :) Waiting anxiously for more! Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. You are spot on with your assesment of our heroes reactions, which I am planning to explore further in the next chapter. Faramir fears to let Aragorn have any chance to read his thoughts lest he unintentionally betray thwe plan, hence the gloves. I hope to post the next chapter very soon.

Ouch, this is surely the hardest cut of all. Faramir has crossed that Rubicon; he's full-deep in the darkness now. He had no choice, if he was to be able to have continued access to the King he had come to save, but it's a dangerous game he's playing. Painful, but well-written. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I found this chapter and the ones following, painful to write, between Aragorn's suffering and seeing Faramir fall ever deeper into the darkness.
