I will admit that I'm glad to see someone other than Frodo being kidnapped this time. Poor Frodo! Cut foot and missing Sam. Am very glad for the hammock and hope they find Sam before he has a chance to be badly hurt by these fools.

... which exactly was the premise to this story. *grins* A very good friend of mine complained that it is almst always Frodo and never Sam who gets in danger, is hurt and has to be rescued. So I decided to make up a plot where it is for a turn the other way round, and it is fun to write! Thank you!

I love your Frodo section in this chapter. All the description about his homesickness was written so darn well.

At home there had been warm weeks, too – of course – but they would be interspersed with cloudy days and the reassuring drum of heavy drops on the grassy roof of Bag End… The sweet scent of damp honeysuckle, the splashing of bare feet in the silvery puddles along the way to Bywater after a refreshing shower… lush, green hills and daffodils with gently nodding heads… He lay in the stifling darkness, his eyes wide open, and the images washed over him with bittersweet, breathtaking power and closed ghostly fingers around his heart.
Your writing is beautiful.

And your Frodo is Love. =)

Author Reply: Thank you for the compliment, Peri! And my Frodo is Love? So true - if there's ever been a book character I longed to understand and "help" to develop - in a way - it is this wondrous hobbit.

Oh no! I am guessing that Sam is in far more trouble than he was with those over-sized clippers. I only hope that Frodo can warn someone before Sam is completely lost. Minas Tirith is a very big place! This is very exciting by the way. Loved the hammock. I could see Merry and Pippin playing with it. I was surprised that one or the other hadn't tossed themselves out onto the ground. LOL

Author Reply: *laughs* I decided not to overdo the slapstick on their account. And concerning Frodo - well, there are many casks leaving Aragorn's City, so to speak, and it will turn out rather complicated to find out which is the one with poor Sam stuffed in it. But he will be found an rescued in time, I promise.

Your desciptions are beautiful, I felt I was in Gondor and that I'd seen the Shire !Poor Sam!I imagine, he was taken by mistake for Frodo?

Author Reply: Only too true. None of those two men has ever seen Frodo before, and all they had was the fact that he's wearing a bandage. And all I had to do now was to get the "real" Ringbearer out of the way. I'm very glad that this works for you!

Those descriptions of nature are really beautiful, Cuthalion. And so vivid!

I like the idea of the hammock. It's like a large cradle, as you said, a cradle for adults ;-)

Although Frodo's feeling of safety was a mock feeling (is this the right word?)!
I was actually wondering what would have happened if those men had left with Sam through the garden - and discovered Frodo!

But now Frodo is able to alert the others in no time. That's at least some advantage!

And I stood there like a witless fool and watched them escape – without doing anything! he thought

How should he have known? That's so typical of Frodo, to blame it all on himself.

I'm looking forward to reading more!

Author Reply: Thank you, dear! I must confess I was sorely tempted to let him wake up while they still tried to haul Sam in a potato sack over the wall... but this was easier. And Frodo will have more than one chance to make up for this "mistake" (that wasn't his fault at all).

I knew when Frodo heard those voices that something like this happened! I have a strange feeling that these thieves think that they have Frodo and I know who's behind it!

Your descriptions are awesome. I can't tell you enough. I'm actually right there in the shire enjoying the "lush green hill and daffodils"; I can actually feel the uncomfortable summer heat in the White City; I can hear the united snores of Merry and Pippin and see Sam's golden hair! Truly wonderful.

I love the picture of the curious hobbits and especially the wary Sam eyeing Faramir tend to the hammock and Merry and Pippin swinging in the hammock like two little kids. And what a gentle soul Faramir is.

A lovely chapter!

Well, that was predictable, wasn't it? *smiles* But I can promise you a few twists in this plot that may surprise you.

I can actually feel the uncomfortable summer heat in the White City...

Me too!The summer here in Germany is insanely hot right now. I know perfectly wekk how poor Frodo feels. If I only had a hammock! And thank you for your lovely comment - I am very happy that you like this!

And here I had my hopes up for a third chapter. LOL! Very nicely done, as always, my friend.

Author Reply: My dearest, here will be no new chapter without a first check under your skilled hands and sharp eyes! *hugs you close* Did I mention lately how glad I am that you're out there?

Oh golly! It's exactly as I feared would happen! Poor Sam!

But at least Frodo has figured it out quickly, and can rouse everyone!

I did love the idea of the hammock, and the way Frodo could sleep in it so beautifully--what a thoughtful idea of Faramir's.

Wonderful chapter--I hope to see more soon!

Author Reply: I love the idea of the hammock, too. Jodancingtree (who inspired the story) has a huge hammock on her porch, and she loves having a nap in it from time to time. I hope she will love it, too. *smiles* And I'm glad that you enjoy this!
