Growing up indeed. And Degger will get a special gift to enhance his watch? Lovely!

Oh dear. I think it might be as well if Ferumbras doesn't find out about Degger playing! Like his betters. Shame about the watch - although it sounds as if the accident has contributed conveniently to some cunning plan. Author Reply: Well, this is just the first chapter--I'll be posting again later or tomorrow. Ferumbras isn't into his wicked-stride yet. This simple pocket watch is going to contribute to more than a cunning plan--keep your eye on it. ;-) Thank you for reading! Pippinfan

*This* looks *immensely* promising, and I am going to follow it with great eagerness! I loved the part about how cold it was when Degger sat on the shovel, LOL! And his "forcing" Pippin to eat the freshly baked biscuits. *chuckle* Hmm...wonder what the Thain's been up to now? Your Ferumbras is even *more* devious than mine... Author Reply: Why, thank you! LOL, I'm writing it just as eagerly. Like Riches/Rags, this tale has so many bits and pieces important to the plot that even *I'm* getting dizzy trying to keep up with them! The challenge of it all is keeping me on my toes. ;-) LOL, I rather enjoyed inserting those bits, too! We shall see soon enough what that old coot's been up to. ;-) While your Ferumbras is devious--and I do like your Ferumbras!--mine is also bitter after living under his mummy's thumb all his life. It shall all unfold.... ;-) Thank you for reading! Pippinfan

Aaahhh. That ending was so sweet. I can so relate to Eglantine's feelings. This looks like it's going to be an interesting story. That beginning was funny. I was aftaid Degger had really been hurt until he made his comment about never having children. Now you've got me curious about their gifts, and what's going to happen to Degger's watch. I also wonder what that meeting the lads witnessed the end of was about. Update soon! GT. Author Reply: I know you can--the Wee One is getting closer with every year. :-( Never fear, though--no matter how old she gets, she'll always be your baby. :-) *So far*, I don't see anyone getting injured...but then, I'm only on chapter 6 and the ball is just starting its roll. Hehehe...one of the gifts is part of the plot, so I can't delve into them at this point. The meeting was nothing too big, we shall see some of its purpose in a chapter or two. Thanks for reading! I enjoyed the way Pippin avoided answering questions about exactly what he and Degger had been doing but even more, I enjoyed the fact that Paladin encouraged it. LOL So very glad to be back in the Tooklands with your Hobbits! Looking forward to much more of this! Author Reply: Yeah, Pippin is learning a lot about skirting the issues if he needs to. No need to get in trouble if one can avoid it. :-) Paladin has got his hands tied up at the moment with learning his own job, so as long as his child is in one piece, no broken bones, nothing espensive broken in the process...he's willing to allow one or two things slip. We will probably see a little bit more in this area between those two. Thank you for reading! I'm looking forward to taking a trip into your Shire, too--when am I booked for a wee excursion?? This is off to an intriguing start! I love the talk between Pip and his Papa and Mum - why *do* they always think he's up to something? Hehehehe I eagerly await more :) Author Reply: Mischief is only in the eye of the beholder. ;-) I guess you can say that they know their son very well. :-) Thank you for reading! Pippinfan
