I have been reading this story for around 5 hours straight since this morning, and only restarted on this chapter about half an hour ago. I have to say that, with all respect to J.R.R. Tolkien, the tale seems to me like it was written by him — that is how good it is. I have nothing but praise for this work of yours, please do carry on with it! In the meantime, I shall go on to the next chapter. :)

This is possibly the best LOTR fanfic I've read, and certainly the best in over a year! I've just read the whole thing in one sitting; it's brilliant. Was dismayed when I realised it wasn't finished and I'd have to wait for the rest! I love your characterisations, and your writing is just utterly fantastic. I really hope you update soon! All the best, Nel Author Reply: Wow! Gosh, all in one sitting! I wish it could be written as quickly as it can be read. I hope I'll update soon too. I'm afraid people are getting fed up with waiting for me. More is coming, but I'm battling RL fiercely for free time to devote to this story.

Absoloutly worth waiting for, but they all are. I can find no words excpet the inevitable paen of '' more! '' As an aside, since I read about the sock stealing cat, almost at the precise time, my mothers puppy began stealing socks, and is still doing it. He knows it is wrong, so he sneaks them. When I first saw him do it I was transported straught back to this story. Author Reply: My old calico Maji is the guilty party in my world. She has been pilfering socks from our laundry baskets and wandering the house with them for years, and serves as the model for Tithlam.

I thought I had lost this story but came hunting for it. Glad I found a couple more chapters. I have been enjoying this tale immensly and look forward to more. (I've saved it to my favourites so I can keep checking or simply re-reading.) Author Reply: More is creeping along. I manage to write about one word a day on the next chapter. Dreadfully slow progress - I need to have a fit or something, to gain possession of this computer from my family for more than five minutes at a time. Aaargh!

hey it`s me! thanks for the great chapter! everything ok on this side of the world! Muinthel Author Reply: Hey! How delightful it was to hear from you. I'm happy all is well with your ever-growing family. My goodness, I wonder how you can find two minutes for reading fan-fiction! Those boys must keep you very busy. Do you still dream of Aragorn, or do you now just wish for enough sleep, and are too tired for dreams?

The wait was worth it! Aragorn has finally found Legolas, Legolas knows Aragorn is alive and they are together! Perfection! (Of course I know they will not just be able to walk out but they are together, which makes everything OK). I also love that Legolas did not believe Aragorn was actually Aragorn. He was, after all, sure he had witnessed his friend's death. He also knew one of his captors was a sorcerer in league with Sauron. He could not SEE Aragorn and had absoutely no reason to believe there was any chance he was alive. He was trussed up and expecting the sorcerer at any moment to commence some type of torture. Perhaps the torture was to make him believe Aragorn was, indeed, alive; using that belief to more completely attack his mind/spirit/soul. Very believable -- excellent job of fitting all these pieces together. And I just love that of all the things Aragorn could have chosen to verify his identity he used Tithlam's habit of stealing his socks. Which reminded Legolas, as well as your readers, of the intensely caring, trusting, quality time the two had experienced over the winter. And Koryon has finally (I think?) committed himself to aiding those fighting to free his city of the evil he had tried to justify serving. Very nice character studies! I was wondering if Legolas will ever be able to discover the real truth behind why his father is accused of killing R----'s (sorry, don't have the name in front of me) family. It sounds as if maybe Thranduil had just discovered them and was checking for signs of life. But unless Legolas actually makes it back to Mirkwood before the end of your story I am at a loss as to how he will be able to clarify what actually happened. Very, very nice! Take whatever time you need with each chapter. I am more than willing to wait a few months for a chapter, just as long as I know one is coming and that the story has not been -- gasp! I shudder to even allow this thought to form -- abandoned! Hope 'real life' is treating you well --- WindSinger Shirley Wilbur Author Reply: Hello again! I was a bit surprised when Legolas reacted violently to Aragorn's appearance. I really had not planned that, but out it came. And of course the sorcerer would not know about the cat stealing Aragorn's socks. Legolas had to realize it really was his friend. More to come on Ramhar. I think when someone turns to evil, there is usually a reason behind it. That is not to say that the evil can be justified or excused, however. No abandoning planned here. It's too fun.

Oh Brill, brill, brill!!! A new chapter! I am so glad you are sticking with this story and updating when you can. I loved the tense and gritty re-union between Aragorn and Legolas. There were so many nice touches to this chapter, including Aragorn being saved by that darned cat! The humour is still there, of course, particularly with the exchange over the foul concoction that Aragorn offered Legolas to drink. One wonders precisely how the Ranger knows what Warg's piss tastes like...... And now everything is kicking off in the city, and they still have to rescue the poor lad held hostage. It looks like there are plenty of thrills still to come. This story is nothing short of a masterpiece; thrilling, touching, sad, funny -a fantastic roller-coaster ride, an epic drama, yet so sensitively written and the characters beautifully portrayed. Even if it takes FIVE years to finish it, it will be worth it!!! Author Reply: Brill? I'm wondering if you are British. Oh, Aragorn most certainly does not know what warg piss tastes like. Blech! That was a remark Alun said when he handed him the drink - that it smelled like it. I am glad you are enjoying the story! It ain't over yet, though I do plan a slow descent to the end.

I'm so happy to see Aragorn and Legolas reunited. It was clever of Aragorn to mention the socks ! Author Reply: I thought so too. It was a sure thing to catch Legolas' attention, and he would realize that the sorcerer could not know about the cat and the socks.

OH. WOW. YES! Aragorn and Alun have entered the building. I had feared that Ramhar might be in a next room, ready to pounce...thank goodness he was nowhere around. I loved that Legolas was still full of fight and was not going to go down easy. This is going to be a long night...hopefully there will be many who will fight against the evil. Oh..poor Legolas...not able to recognize Aragorn by his voice or walk. I'm suprised he didn't recongnize him from his smell....ha. I'm sure he was complely overwhelmed. It was a sweet reunion. I look forward to each and every chapter you post. I wouldn't THINK of abandoning this story...no matter how long it takes. You take your time and know that we will be here....anxious, but waiting non the less. I wish all the best for you and your family. As always...Peace. Bev Author Reply: Aww, why does everyone think Aragorn is stinky? Poor guy! Must have come from that orc in the movie saying he smelled "man flesh", and Pippin immediately knew it was Aragorn. He's got a rep he cannot shake now. More to come!
