So glad Degger is above "I told you so's." Looking forward to the true story of the watch and what will be added to it now.

Poor Degger. Always feeling that people are thinking the worst of him because of his past. I'm wondering what that letter said. I have a feeling it has something to do with Degger's graduation present. Pippin really does overdo things a lot. I think I would have been tempted to say, "I told you so," if I were in Degger's place. I just hope Pippin feels up to taking his final exam. It would not be a good thing for him to be the only one not to graduate this time. Looking forward to more. GT. Author Reply: Degger is rarity; his background comes from the *working-class*, he speaks as the working-class, although that will gradually change just a smidgen as the years pass by, given his *education*. Mr. Mat *does* like Degger, however, after much research while writing Riches to Rags, I had learned that orphaned children weren't exactly looked upon favourably by most folk "back then". Not everyone was like that, of course, but generally speaking they were. It was my fault for not elaborating more on that issue, and I will correct that, but Mat does like Degger *because* he is mannerly, soft spoken and gentle, *in spite of* him having no parents to guide him in that area of learning. At least, that is Mat's thinking. To compensate a bit for my error, I will tell you this: Keep Degger's manners in the back of your memory for now--that issue just may reappear much later as a minor part of the plot. ;-) LOL, you and a few others are wondering about that letter! That will unfold in the next few chapters without the telling of contents. ;-) Oh, that would be terrible if he didn't graduate after all the work he did the past nine months or so! LOL, he'd be furious! No, Pip will graduate, but we know that's a given with his level of intelligence. :-) Thank you for reading and taking the time to leave a lovely review! Pippinfan Author Reply: Ah--I think I missed your point, but you got a whole other answer in return, lol. So sorry--I'm guessing you're referring to Degger responding with "My dad didn't pinch it"? I don't think he feels that way too often, only when someone says something mean. In this case, he just misunderstood Tooter. If I *still* missed your point, just pm me, or we can discuss it next time we talk on the phone. :-) Have a great week! PF

You're weaving a good mystery, m'dear Pippinfan!! What is so interesting about that watch? Good ole Pip! Count on him to get his tummy upset. A good solid read! More! More! Author Reply: Thank you! Hehehe...keep your eye on it. :-) Pip is in the throes of starting to grow up. He's in that miserable in between stage. We shall see how he handles it. ;-) Thank you so much for reading and taking the time to leave a word of encouragement. :-) Pippinfan

So many questions about Degger's watch! I hope the next part is posted soon because I can't imagine what is going on with that watch. I like Mat very much by the way. Hope he turns up in this story again somewhere. I am also wondering if Degger will be forced to tell Paladin about that candy. My but I have lots of questions tonight, don't I? Love the story and can't wait for more! Author Reply: Hullo!! :-) LOL, that watch does have a lot to do with the story, so keep an eye on it. ;-) I rather like Mat, too. I've used him in so many stories without so much as a slight description, so I gave him both looks and a personality in this tale. Glad you like him! He's the Thain's carriage driver, so we may yet see him again here...or in another story, too! "Lots of questions" is good, lol, and most will be answered soon. :-) Thank you for reading! You'll hear from me again. ;-) Pippinfan

Oh, dear! *chuckle* Pippin and his sweet tooth. I am curious as a Took as to what that note from Paladin said... Author Reply: Hehehe...I'd do as another wonderful and well-known author has done and post an Author's Notes chapter with the document all written out...but then it would ruin the next part of the story. :-) I think all kids have a sweet tooth, and their tummies tend to get upset when they eat too much of anything. ;-) Thank you for reading!
