A pigeon stolen and then unwittingly sacrificed. Such a waste! Sam realizes they think he's Frodo, and Frodo realizes they think Sam is himself, and Aragorn realizes.... Now, to unmask the conspiracy and bring the gardener home. Author Reply: Now, to unmask the conspiracy and bring the gardener home. Patience, ma'am! It gave me unholy fun to let the "carrot of danger" dangle in front of my reader's nose a few chapters more. *grins* But I'm very glad that you enjoy this! Cúthalion

So they think Sam is Frodo do they? And their message has gone astray. How much more trouble can Sam be in? Don't answer that. I enjoyed Sam's thoughts about what the Gaffer might think of things. I do hope they are able to use the clues in the bedroom to find him especially now that no randsom note will be arriving. This is wonderful! Author Reply: Thank you! (And you shouldn't forget that they stole more than one pigeon!) Isn't this fun? This my very first real suspense-story, and cooking up the plot with the help of my friend Jodancingtree was a blast. I am very glad that you enjoy it! Cúthalion

I am enjoying this story very, very much! Poor Sam... first his fingers and now this, though I'm thinking that he is sort of glad that he was taken and not his Master. That's just the kind of Hobbit he is. I'm wondering how long Frodo will allow Aragorn to do the searching, etc. I hope he doesn't do anything too foolish! :) Looking forward to more. Author Reply: Not too long, I assure you. You know, the longer I write, the more I get sick of FF-Frodo who is barely able to think clearly, let alone to make brave decisions and carry out a risky plan if necessary. Who ever reads the book without the "pink glasses" of his/her own ideas on should see him as a strong, corageous character with enough common sense and wisdom to get things done. *steps off her soap box" (And thank you very much!) Oh dear, even the best laid plans of hobbitnappers go awry! And how much more dangerous for Sam! Author Reply: Indeed. But this is a solid PG-13 and in the end he will return to his Shire in one piece, so don't be too afraid! *smiles* (And thank you!) Cúthalion

I have been confined to a sickroom because I was too weak to move. Then confined to this house because you told me to recover and to take care of myself. But with Sam being in danger, I won’t stay behind and wait for you to save the day. You know that, do you?” “Yes,” Aragorn replied, eyeing the hobbit with deep concern, “Only too well.” Cuthalion, I like *your* Frodo! Smart, brave, sometimes very stubborn - and with a large amount of authority - even when he speaks to Aragorn. If Frodo decides to search for Sam on his own, it will be very difficult for Aragorn to stop him, if not impossible! Poor unlucky bird, indeed! I have no idea, though, about the consequences. There might be even some more misunderstandings. Please update soon :) Author Reply: If Frodo decides to search for Sam on his own, it will be very difficult for Aragorn to stop him, if not impossible! How very true... and how clever of you! *winks* And I love "my" Frodo, too - very much. He is every inch the Master of Bag End, and I like him that way.

Have been reading and enjoying your story, which is beautifully written. Sam is my favorite character and I love it when he's in danger. Thank you, and I hope that you update with new chapters frequently. :o) Author Reply: Sam is my favorite character and I love it when he's in danger. I'll do what I can, and there will probably be 4 or 5 more chapters. I'm very glad that you like this!

Oh how exciting and tense this is. Poor Sam, I love his fighting back and taking a chunk out of his kidnapper! And his thoughts of the Gaffer were wonderful. I love the way he very quickly figured out what had happened. And that Frodo had figured it out as well--he's got a sharp mind, and he's quickly going to realize the truth of the matter. Hopefully, the Bad Guys will not figure out too quickly they have the wrong hobbit, though if they get the bandage off, they'll soon know. Poor pigeon. Not a very reliable way to send a ransom note. By the way, you left a little bit of the posting HTML at the tail end there. Author Reply: Poor pigeon. Not a very reliable way to send a ransom note. *laughs* Maybe - but this was simply bad luck, I'd say. And yes, they both carry a good head on their shoulder, those Ringbearers. It is a joy to give "my" Frodo the strength that is so often denied to him in fanfiction... and Sam calles himself a ninny, but he isn't, not at all. I'm glad that you like my tale (and sorry - that stupid HTMLstuff drives me crazy...) Cúthalion
