Oh, poor Estel. Not only is Legolas miserably uncomfortable because of his error, but he has to face the fact that his misdiagnosis put Legolas at risk of permanent disability. I would not have thought that a plant could have such a poison in it, but of course they can. I tend to think of poisons in LOTR stories as something that orcs put on their blades and arrows to incapacitate their opponents, but the orcs must have gotten those drugs from somewhere -- presumably plants or animals. Author Reply: I'm not sure about plants in middle earth but I know some plants on our planet are very poisonous and can kill if one accidentally ingested it. *shudders* | |
