I'll stop reading right here to tell you that this is a great story! You have started with a great plot -- canon-friendly, and full of intriguing (and anguishing) twists and turns. You have done a great job with both descriptions and character development and dialogue, and I appreciate the time you've taken (and are taking) to write this fiction. Author Reply: Hi, Eilenach, Imagine my horror when I suddenly found (by chance) this review that had been sent in April and to which it seems I have never replied! My apologies for not having responded to such a kind review of my story (in case you've forgotten, it's In Shadow Realm :-) ) I'm glad you enjoyed the tale as much as I enjoyed writing it. I poured much of my heart and soul into it, and I don't know when I can write a new one. Glad I could share this one with you. :-) Legolass

Of all the low down, dirty-double crossing #$%&$$, lousy things. No wonder they were cursed. Listen, Legolass. I've got some West Indian/Cajun Aunts, I always thought they were a little nutty but they're good for a voodoo curse or two. Heck, we could give them a call and probably get another curse back on the spirits before the next chapter. Boy, that was a great chapter. I'll say it again you write some great villians (I always like the villians in a story or a movie, my husband thinks I need professional help with this issue). I could feel Shelob and her anger. Can elves die of heart failure? I know they can die from a broken heart but I swear Legolas is going to have a heart attack (if he doesn't I know I'm close). next chapter send me an email and tell me to get some meds ready! LOL Author Reply: So, my friend, you have a thing for villains huh? Hmmm, I'm thinking that one day I may create a diabolically charming, handsome, and delightfully evil bad guy just for you! :-D You may end up rooting for him instead of our Elf and Ranger, speaking of whom - yes, I think Legolas is as close to a heart attack as he can get with Aragorn lying as good as lifeless before him, and not knowing what's going on. I'm half-contemplating calling on your aunts for help, but you know, Black Speech clashing with Cajun voodoo.... sssss... *that's me sucking in a breath*... the consequences may be out of this world and out of this plot. And THEN what is this writer going to do? :-0 Better let things run their painful course. :-) Thank you for the offer, though, and the review, mellon nin. See you next update - which is... hmmm... how far away? Oh, go ask your aunts. hugs Legolass

What a chilling, thrilling roller coaster ride of a chapter. The fight was gripping and the end bloodcurdling.I don't think I was very wise to read just before going to bed though !I very eagerly await more ! You are most welcome to the review at MEFA,your story deserves it. My typos grow ever more hilarious, I had Faramir detected when he should have been dejected, thank Goodness for my Beta reader ! Author Reply: I'm glad it was a thrill ride for you, Linda; it was meant to be. Hope you didn't get a nightmare after that. :-) You might have ended up hating Shelob the ugly feast, and feeling dearful for Aragorn. :-D Thanks for the review, Legolass

Why, thanks for the reminder (settling down with a large pot of freshly-brewed, extra-strong coffee). Yikes! What a vicious fight, with those admirable stunts from our favourite elf (grin), that was worth at least three heart-attacks and several fits of hysterical outbreak (and the coffee is already gone - how is that possible?!). So that is the curse and the threat (shudder), and the shadow host is even sorry - well THEY SHOULD BE! How could they leave us in such a fix (Aragorn and Legolas, I mean, of course), and not even give a warning. Egoistic, selfish, worthless breed of orc-spit. (That reminds me, last night I wondered if ten years into the reign of Aragorn, there were still orcs left in Middle-Earth - but I think, you just answered this question for me.) But who IS the "old one"? Older than Elrohir or the Elves in general? He was mentioned before... Gimli! He mentioned him before... "listen to the old one - beyond the gate"?. There was an old man sitting before the entrance to the paths of the dead, but he died when he had uttered the prophecy about Aragorn. Or had he? AAARGH! Will I find out or will I have to wait for your update? Perhaps I could mess a little with your working schedule, lol! Very grateful for the brilliant chapter, your rodent is patiently waiting for more... Author Reply: Oh what an amusing image: my favourite rodent -- drunk on coffee! :-D With all that caffein, you must have rendered your tree bark-less with all your scampering about afterward. (Oh geez now you make me feel like coffee but it's already 12.03 am here, and I can't drink it.) "Egoistic, selfish, worthless breed of orc-spit." -- gads, I just love your expressions. That's going into my memory too *click* - and I haven't forgotten one that you gave me much earlier *click click click* Oh the old one? Well... maybe the next chapter will answer your questions, okay? Till then, keep scampering, bushy-tailed friend of mine. Nof off to any exotic places are you? Thanks and hugs Leoglass

Oh my, the death of Shelob, was quite terrible. I did feel sorry for her, then I remembered that she was a hugh spider, with bad breath from eating dead things What to do, what to do, Legolas's nightmare has come true. Ahhh, my poor ranger king has become a dead faceless guy. Don't know if I should call out the doctors, a couble of hundred stone masions, or start hunting some old wise guy! Author Reply: Hi, grumpy, Maybe you should call all those people you named to help Aragorn, but really, all he needs are elves... I think. ;-) You gave me a laugh-attack with your beasty-bad-breath remark! :-D Thanks for the review and the giggles. Legolass

Oooh! What a brilliant chapter. This story has been much more of a slow burner than "for the love of the lord of the white tree" but a wonderful suspense filled saga just the same. Well done. I can't wait for the next instalment. Author Reply: I love your 'slow burner' metaphor, Noor. An inspire choiced of word, and yes it does describe this story and its slow build-up of suspense well. Thank you for your visit. See you next update! Legolass

Wow - I'm speechless. Brilliant! An act of great compassion and that XXXX!X Saruman still gets revenge! You can't do this to Aragorn. A wonderful read Leagolass, thank you for cheating on your work schedule and I hope that you, too, don't get into trouble for it. But now we have to wait again - just who is suffering this torture, Aragorn or us? You were writing to such great effect that I was just feeling sorry for Shelob myself when I got to this paragraph - "But now that Shelob was helplessly weary, the King – to Legolas’ alarm – stayed his sword. Aragorn held the Flame of the West in a firm grip, and his grey eyes glinted with grim determination – yet his own fatigue-lined face softened as he felt a rush of pity even for such a vicious beast. " Author Reply: "just who is suffering this torture, Aragorn or us?" -- I'm beginning to wonder myself, lol. As for feelign sorry for Shelob, to tell you thte truth, I didn't plan it, but by the time I wrote all that, I was feeling sorry for her myself, so I thought Aragorn must too. ANd it's in his nature somehow, so it worked out well. Thanks for your review, harrowcat. See you next update!

Criminy!! That was a cliffhanger to scare the most hardened of fan fic readers! You have the enviable ability to write chapters so well that your readers immediately want to scroll to the end because the tension is killing them--but we resist and are the more shocked when we do reach the end.WOW and WOW again! The battle to kill Shelob was very exciting and descriptive and I cheered when Aragorn finally killed her(sorry, no sympathy for spiders THAT big!) but I had only one quibble;Sam's use of a very modern swear word was kind of jarring.Other than that I loved the battle. So, how will Aragorn be returned to the land of the living? Legolas will find a way, I'm sure, but it won't be easy, I expect.I can't wait for more! Update soon. Ali. Author Reply: Hi, Ali, Yes, you're one of several readers who have told me they want to scroll to the end of chapters quickly because they can't stand the tension, lol! But I'm glad you resist and go on the whole ride. :-) Scumbag is a modern swear word? Thanks for letting me know; there're sometimes one or two words that I feel could have been used at the time till someone tells me they're not. If I weren't so tired, I might think of another. Perhaps you can suggest one, lol! As for your question: "So, how will Aragorn be returned to the land of the living?" -- well, are you sure he will be? :-) I guess we'll have to wait and see. Thank you so much for your kind words, Ali; you're one of those who have been with me through all my stories, and I really appreciate it. Legolass
