Elros... very interesting... somewhere in the depths of my heart, I had hoped it was Denethor...

Hmm. As Elros never visited this place, this is very interesting. But welcome.

Author Reply: Well, according to canon, neither did Boromir live, so I guess a little variation of the truth is allowed in this context.

A gripping chapter. I loved the idea of Elros helping Aragorn.

Author Reply: Thanks, Aragorn needed help from another source and who better to assist than the very first King of Men?

Hi!

Just found this and started reading - could not stop! Great tale - and, of course, I'm very glad Boromir is alive... nice job of who takes care of him and how he survived Amon Hen.

Author Reply: Very pleased to hear you are enjoying this tale and like the premise behind it. As I staterd at the beginning, this is not my usual choice of subject matter, but it seems to be working OK for now.

Elros! Mind you, Aragorn needed help here to disperse the shadow. It was close to overcoming both of them. And hopefully now Boromir will recover rather better.

Author Reply: Yes, not even Aragorn is as powerful as the remnants of the shadow, at least in this tale! Boromir is indeed on the path to recovery but who knows where that will lead?

This was quite a tense chapter. How strange it must have been for Aragorn and Legolas to see Boromir again. And yet they immediately set to work, knowing how little time he has. I really liked the part before they see him, where Legolas thinks of his seduction by the ring with not anger or blame but understanding and regret. His tender kiss of greeting brought tears to my eyes.

Ah, so Boromir was still touched by evil. That explains why he wouldn’t heal and why his thoughts were so confused and troubled. I actually shuddered at the idea of the arrow wounds. Poor Boromir. How he must have suffered. And yet it says much for his strength of spirit and those, both seen and unseen, who watched over him that he survived this long while such evil battled for his soul.

The scene where Aragorn tries to save Boromir is fantastic. I was on the edge of my seat. Such a relief when he conquers the darkness! I wondered who that voice was. But Elros! Wow. It’s not just any old ancestors hanging around that glade, eh? Ok, next chapter at your earliest convenience please, jenolas!!!

Great to see you writing again, btw :-)

Author Reply: Thanks Dot, it's great to be back!

I think Legolas must have understood Boromir's inner battle quite well having had to fight the darkness that gradually turned Greenwood into Mirkwood. Gondor was headed for the same fate, after all. I like to think they (as well as the Galadhrim) had much in common with respect to their love of their homelands.

It seems the ghostly ancestors also believe Boromir is not a lost cause!

Next chapter soon. Thanks again for your kind words and encouragement,

be well,
jenolas
