Drabbles  by Lindelea 7 Review(s)
LarnerReviewed Chapter: 22 on 11/14/2006
Yes, a wonderfully appropriate dribble for today.

And so Frodo does what he can, little as it might seem at the time. Far more courageous than most realize, considering how others are paralyzed when facing this foe.

Oh, how chilling! *shivers* But it's very well written, and again, I love the lyrical style with which you capture this moment of mingled heroism and seeming failure. (I've often wondered how much was Frodo's giving in and how much was beyond his control.)
God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: I do think that much was beyond his control. He was not sufficiently on his guard at the Prancing Pony, and though he'd heard of the Black Riders this was the first time he'd seen them face-to-face.

And now you've made me think of the scene where he and Sam are hiding in the Dead Marshes (I think) and the Nazgul is flying overhead, and Sam helps Frodo keep from putting the Ring on, because Frodo cannot resist, no matter how hard he fights.

No one would suspect that this is your first attempt! I am very impressed. That was lovely and so very powerful.

Author Reply: Thanks!

I must admit, it took me a lot of time to get up enough nerve to *try* a dribble.

Very good :-) as always!

What's a dribble?

Author Reply: Well, I'm not completely sure I know all of the "rules", but from what I've seen, it's a literary form where the first line is ten words, the second line is nine words, the third line is eight words, the fourth line is seven words, and so forth, until you get to the last line, a single word.

Thanks!

Great stuff Lindelea.

Author Reply: Thank you! The film always disappointed me in its treatment of Weathertop. Ah, yes, spooky, but Frodo-in-the-book was stabbed as he lunged forward, not as he cowered away.

Gorgeous! The episode truly fits well into this format! Well done!
