Old Scores  by Baggins Babe 8 Review(s)

Thanks for the heads up! You are right about the computer problems, but they *seem* to be cleared up for the time being. *crosses fingers*

What a lovely chapter! I am glad Pippin got to talk to the Sandymans; for all his outward confidence, I am sure that it was weighing on him until he could have a chance to speak with them. It's sure to bother him still from time to time, but at least he knows that it's good that it does.

The scene with the butterflies was adorable!

And now we have little Goldilocks coming along--I'm glad Frodo did not know she's to grow up and wed Farimir--it's much better that all happen naturally, and not have the families anticipating things!

Very nice chapter, dear!

Author Reply: I wanted Pippin to have some reassurance from the Sandymans. he will always remember what happened but he did not enjoy doing it.

Don't want them knowing what Goldilocks' fate will be and trying to push the little ones together.

Glad you enjoyed the butterflies - I really enjoyed writing that.

Now you're all caught up again!

I love it! I love it! The children's play, the fair, the piles of leaves, the feast, all this captures the very escence of autumn. I love this time of year, and to read about it is almost as good as stepping outside and living and breathing it.

I'm so glad to see Violet and Columbine and Ellie having such a good time, and I love Ellie's protectiveness! :)

"Good they can be amused so easily, lass," Sam murmured as he stood on the stoop with his arm round Rose's waist.

"Frodo, the children or the cats?" She turned her face to his and grinned as he swivelled her to and fro.

"All of 'em. Look at him - he looks nearly as young as he did before the Quest. And he has something carefree about him now. I always said love could
work miracles."

Yes, love can work unbelieveable miracles. And Goldilocks is on the way! :) :)
God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: Autumn is a fun time, especially in the country and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I think Ellie would be fiercely protective of those she loves, and love can and does work miracles.

Yay! New baby alert for Sam and Rose! looking forward to writing that.

Oh, fluff! Yay!

Pippin making peace with Ted Sandyman's survivng family, Ivy discovering that she has worth, the butterflies, another baby on the way for Rosie and Sam...

Lovely, every bit of it.

Author Reply: I do enjoy writing hobbit fluff! Poor Ivy, it's about time she realised she has a great deal of worth, and as for the new baby - you have to love Rosie and Sam and their delightfully happy family.

Glad you enjoyed a trip to the Shire.

Ah! *Sighs very deeply* What a nice piece of fluff and giggles to go to work on! I loved the butterflies and missus fodo and Frodo's foresight and sense of the soul and Aragorn getting hungry........ *wanders off to find breakfast listing every bit of the chapter.*

Author Reply: Nothing like a spot of hobbit fluff! I like the idea of Frodo covered in butterflies, and little Tando just appeared and insisted on going into the story. Cute little faunt, even if he's confused about the domestic arrangements at Bag End.

Glad Pippin made his peace with the Sandyman's. Even if I know they're more thankful than angry, Pippin needed the reassurance. He may act very silly sometimes, but he isn't that lighthearted to forget it easily, and it must have burdened him considerably to have killed a hobbit.

Loved the image of Frodo with butterflies in his hair! Cute! :)
And of course, I love Ellie's protectiveness for Columbine and her adored Uncle Frodo. I can see her, probably hands in hips and glaring at everyone who dares to say anything wrong :)

Ned Shortburrow's cows sported a rosette for the longest eyelashes *rofl* The competitions the hobbits come up with!

Hm, Frodo has foreseen Goldilocks will be important? Maybe it is good he doesn't know she will marry the future Thain - I wonder if they would try to push the two together if they knew?

Aragorn is not the only one who gets hungry at this images ... my stomach reminds me I need to have breakfast ;)

Author Reply: I too can see Elanor with her hands on her hips, daring anyone to say a word out of place.

Country fairs have all sorts of fun categories for livestock - dog with the waggiest tail, cow with the longest eyelashes....... I think the hobbits would want as many delightful animals as possible to win prizes. :-))

Pippin must have found it difficult, to live with the knowledge that he killed a hobbit, but the fact that Ted's familyare not holding a grudge will make his life easier.

Glad you enjoyed, even if it did make you hungry.

Oh, how wonderful that Aragorn is inspired to Hobbit appetites when he's been watching over those he loves! And our Frodo is always a wonder--a wonder and a delight.

Author Reply: I was wondering if the Palantir transmits smells! I think Aragorn would have felt hungey after watching his beloved hobbits - especially now he has visited the Shire.
Frodo is indeed a wonder. Hope you enjoyed the butterflies!

Uh oh...A hungry Aragorn, that's not good. ;o) Can't blame him though. I could have sworn I could smell those roasted potatoes myself. Oh well...By this time tomorrow, I'll have all the corners full after my own family's Thankgiving Dinner, so...:o)

I have the feeling this is the end to this one, but what a happy, fluffy end if it is. I loved Ivy winning the Best in Show in Sewing at the Fair. After everything they had been through, that was just a perfect way to end the summer. I also loved Frodo's butterfly bonnet and "Missus Fodo" was just too cute!! Tongues wagging indeed...LOL!!!

I can't wait for your next story Baggins Babe. This is just such a wonderful universe w/a happy and healed Frodo in it to share it all. Sigh...:o) Yes, a lovely fluffy way to spend a frosty October night. Surrounded by hobbits at a bonfire w/a meal roasting it. Who could ask for more!?! :oD

Author Reply: Oh no, this is not the end! There are at least two more chapters - I have some more surprises in store yet! :-))

Ah yes, Frodo with a butterfly bonnet! Couldn't resist it! As for 'Missus Fodo.....' what did the old gossips of Hobbiton and Bywater make of the Bag End domestic arrangements, I wonder?

As you say, who could ask for more than happy hobbits and a feast? I just wonder if smells were transmitted via the Palantir?

Happy Thanksgiving. How did you get on in Toronto?

Author Reply: Hi Tigger,

Just re-reading your lovely reviews and realised I haven't heard from you since you went to Toronto - you seem to have missed the latest chapter. Hope everything is going well with you. It's not the same without a Tigger review!

How wonderful. This could have been a perfect "The End", with such joy and plenty and hope for the future. And... I'm just starving now! Your descriptions of food and produce make me just drool and want to raid the kitchen.

and the day ended with all the produce being sorted and taken round to poor families and anyone who was ill or needed extra cheering.

What a lovely custom, in the Shire -- or anywhere at all.

He took their hands."You are my family, my dearest brother and sister, and your love has made me whole again."

I always said love could work miracles."

"So you did, my clever Sam."

"Clever? I suppose I must be - I chose the best wife and the best master in the whole of Middle-earth."

*happy sigh*

Author Reply: Never fear, this isn't quite 'The End' yet. I still have plans for our hobbits, and for the Sandyman family. Having too much fun with this one to let it go just yet.

Glad you enjoyed the fluff - always nice to spend time with happy hobbits.
