| Hello Shirebound, 'enspelled' - what a great word! And delightful to see the proud Galadriel shed her regal ways and run to her mother's embrace! This was a poignant chapter, with its hints of the Elves' grief at knowing they would never see Undomiel. But Eärwen is a very gracious Lady to humble herself when she has seen the error of her ways. | Ah, I'm so behind on this story! Very lovely chapter! I just finished reading the Silmarillian so I understood more what they were talking about! | Eärwen's talk with Frodo was lovely. It must have been very difficult for her to understand how he could offer such a percious gift. You write the Elves so very well. Author Reply: Oh my, thank you! I'm *never* sure I'm writing Elves correctly. And it's such a challenge to bring in a character about which almost nothing is written in canon. | |

| This was an absolutely beautiful chapter with so much to revel in. Frodo's offer to heal the Trees was perfect and so in character, and I loved the interaction with Earwen. How amazing that she was willing to humble herself. I'd never thought that some of those in the West might be suspicious of mortals. Your stories are lovely and not full of horrible angst but you always manage to make me think about this incredible story. Author Reply: Thank you so much. I think I'll leave the "horrible angst" to others, and concentrate on the growth, support, healing, and peace I love to see Frodo receive... and give! | |

| I laughed at myself when I read the first part of this chapter. Frodo was stalked, bitten, and poisoned by a spider three or more times his size, but he's not afraid of spiders. Yet I scream and run in terror every time I catch sight of one, even if it's so tiny you can barely see it without a microscope. Lol. ;-P “I thought...” Frodo stammered. “When I heard the tales, it occurred to me that someone could use the phial -- perhaps break it open -- to rekindle the Trees. I thought it was something I could do, to show my gratitude for Bilbo and myself being allowed to dwell here.” So typically unselfish of Frodo to offer to give up the Phial for the sake of others. Loved it. I also loved Eärwen and hope to see more of her! ~shirespirit~ Author Reply: I'm not crazy about spiders, myself! But I'm sure Frodo's seen plenty in Sam's lovely gardens, and just hiking in the woods, over the years. Thank you, Shirespirit! :D | |

Even that a legendary Elven lady apologizes for not having greeted him properly. And what a wonderful idea to try to revive the Two Trees with the phial of Galadriel! | This is absolutely wonderful, Shirebound! Once again, I'm so glad you've decided to further expand this tale. The few times you've written Galadriel have all been well done, and this is no exception. I'm really liking Eärwen's characterization as well. I feel she will do much to help poor Frodo. And in turn, he will inadvertantly teach her many things as well. I loved how he stuck up for Galadriel to her mother in his wn quiet, but noble way. His words alone probably helped to ease Eärwen's upset over her daughter's exile. That it had not all been for naught. Wow, that's such a neat idea to use the light in Frodo's phial to rekindle the Two Trees--it's just a shame that it cannot be done. And how very like Frodo to offer when he knew neither the Elves of the West, nor that the Light from the Trees was truly vanquished forever. I'm also glad to see Mellon immediately agreeing to carry Bilbo about every now and again. :D It's really too bad Bilbo can't go far and explore with Frodo, however. Speaking of Bilbo, how very like him to meet one of the most ancient of Elves and want to write her story down! LOL! I eagerly await to see where this lovely tale goes next, Shirebound. ~Elemmírë~ Author Reply: Thank you so much for your encouragement. This story is such a challenge for me, but one I've been thinking about for quite awhile. It may not end up being very long, but I hope it will convey everything I'm trying to say about Frodo's arrival and the effect it has on everyone involved. I do love thinking about that phial, and how it brings us full-circle back to nearly the very beginning of the Professor's exquisite tale. | |

| And in accepting her gift of friendship, in return Frodo eases the reunion and resumption of affection between Earwen and Galadriel. Very lovely. Author Reply: Thank you, Larner. Each good word, act, or intention -- no matter how small -- is like a ripple in a pond, isn't it? You never know what effect it might have... in ways we can't even imagine. | |
