A simply wonderful Bilbo and Pippin story, Citrine! I really liked how Pippin didn't want to burden Frodo, Sam, and Merry and was able to confide in Bilbo about the trolls.

Now this, Citrine, is indeed a keeper. Yes, it's bittersweet, but just the proper mix of the two. I so feel with Pippin, and understand how old Bilbo, truly OLD Bilbo now, drifts off to sleep to the rise and fall of Pippin's words along with the sounds of the Sea that fill his dreams. Author Reply: Yeah, I made myself sad there. Poor old Bilbo: That's really the only thing on his mind now, that's all he can hear. The sea is calling him, just like it calls Frodo. *sigh* Thanks for reading, btw:o)

This is lovely, Citrine! A wonderful look at the relationship between Pippin and Bilbo before and after the Quest. The end is bittersweet but I love that they were both able to be there for each other. Their first conversation about the trolls was wonderful, as was Bilbo's fear of impending doom. Perhaps it's best that he didn't remember that. Just wonderful, I really enjoyed this :D Author Reply: Thanks:o) It was only after I wrote it that I realized I kind of gave Bilbo a touch of Tookish precognition there, without actually meaning to. It's that Took fairy blood, I guess.

Oh wow! I am glad that Bilbo doesn't remember the doom that he perceived and felt that he had wished into being. Lovely look at both Bilbo and Pippin before and after the quest. Author Reply: I guess in this case, Bilbo getting old and forgetful and sleepy is a blessing in disguise, otherwise he might have remembered and felt terribly guilty, even though his casual words didn't really cause Pippin to get squashed. Thanks for reading this, Harrowcat:o)

Lovely to find this here, and lovely to re-read, but I'm sorry I cannot leave a proper review, as my eyes are closing themselves. So I will hope to return some time this week and quote things at you and effuse and such. Greatly touched at having a story for me! Author Reply: You provided the bunny and the inspiration, so the dedication is all yours, with gratitude. Until then, sleeeeeep. May you dream of hobbits:o)
