| OH Antane! Rosie's last words were so beautiful, and truer than I think she imagines. "I still don’t understand and I don’t think I ever will," she started softly. She looked into Frodo’s tear-streaked face. "But the one thing I do understand, is that you didn’t do it, Mr. Frodo. Sam made that very clear and my Sam don’t lie. I know you believe that you aren’t either, but you weren’t yourself at the time. I know you’ve loved Sam as much as he has loved you and you still do as much as he still loves you. He wouldn’t love someone who killed him." She held him gently. "I’m thinking that this Ring damaged you a whole lot more than it did him." The only sound in the room was Frodo’s tears. | I think that Rose's comment about damage is so true. Got to run.... Author Reply: I thought so too, though it's scary to think of it that way, but true - the Ring killed Sam's body but couldn't damage his soul and the opposite is true Frodo. I would hope that once Frodo truly realizes and accepts that he has been forgiven by everyone, that he's buried under so much love, he'll have no choice but to forgive himself, but you know how stubborn a Baggins can be! | Hi Antane! I was wondering if you were going to have a part where Frodo tells the Gamgees about Sam. I like how he told Sam to "stay home" HeHe. I also enjoyed the Gaffer's frankness and practical view. How very like Rose to see through all that she doesn't understand for what she does--love. I think this to be a fine addition to the rest, Antane, and I'm glad you snuck it in there! It brings eveything together more in reagrds to Frodo's confession to the Gamgee family and Rose.
