Yes, I'd say indeed that he needed that kiss--needed it rather desperately. Glad he accepted it.

I love that Diamond has some of the Sight that is often attributed to Pippin. I also liked the description of how her eyes change, and especially how while so sick all the green is gone and she is pure Baggins, and uncannily like his beloved Frodo, though that brings him pain, and fear. My daughter has green/blue eyes that change with her moods and health as well, and I, who have boring brown eyes that are always brown no matter what, find her changing eye color endlessly fascinating. And one last note - I wish we had dances like they do in your story, where everybody in the community gets together, and the different dances are known by name and step, and are danced specifically. I think we miss out not having such times together anymore. Really enjoying this, Gryffinjack. And I forgot to be watching - did I miss the strange contraption and pouch of money? I notice this chapter has different elements to include. I got caught up in the story and forgot to pay attention. That's quite a compliment! Author Reply: In my universe, both Pippin and Diamond have the gift of Sight, as does Frodo. It is a characteristic of the faerie blood in Tooks that only a few hobbits of Took descent possess. For example, although Merry is half-Took, he does not posess the gift of Sight, although he has a little of the faerie blood magic in him which is seen in his cheery disposition. It is the faerie blood magic that also makes both Pippin and Diamond shimmer (and Frodo, too, to a lesser extent). I'm so glad to hear about your daughter's eyes! I've only known one person with eyes like Diamond's - eyes so unusual that I was not able to forget them. My niece's friend had greenish-blue eyes, but when she was sick or tired, they were clear blue. I thought that worked very well for someone who was half North-Took and half Baggins. I'm very interested to hear what colour your daughter's eyes are in her various moods, such as when she is happy or excited. Unfortunately, my eyes are boring brown as well. Yes, it would be wonderful if we still did those old dances like they used to do! It brings everyone together in the community. No, you did not miss the strange contraption and the pouch of money. The elements from Marigold's Challenge #33 will not be seen until near the end of the story, whereas I included all of the elements I was givent for Challenge #34 in this chapter. I'm glad I was able to make you pay attention to the story and forget about the elements! I really appreciate all of your lovely reviews!

I'm quite enjoying this so far - jsut read the first three chapters. I like that in this Pippin and Diamond have been friends since childhood, and have happy memories to fall back on - and it's clear that they're very much in love. Just lovely. Author Reply: I am quite relieved that you find that it is so clear that my Pippin and Diamond are very much in love. It's important to me that it come across in the story that they were meant for each other, as I envision their relationship to be quite magical. I'm enjoying creating all of these memories for Pippin and Diamond, although they decided to take over the chapter and write the scene with their first kiss. Thanks for your lovely review.
