AARRRGGGHHH!!! Is this the last chapter? Is there More? Actually, I hope that you will be able to continue this story soon. You are such an excellent writer, it would be a sadness if you could not finish because RL got in the way. Love your stories. Love ya, Nessa

I am anxiously waiting an update ;o) Author Reply: My apologies - circumstances have been even more horrendous than usual, to whit: lurgi. Big time. I was ill for four weeks, then was well for not even a week, when I got hit by the vilest flu-like cold imaginable. I am still suffering, though slowly on the mend (and on antibiotics as of yesterday). I would have had a chapter written and posted by now if it were not for that. However, I know where I'm at - having overcome an unforseen MAJOR blip in this chapter - so it's a case of finding the time (and the energy/ability) to get some writing done. If I continue to improve in terms of health and can find some time, then perhaps within a week/week and a half max (depending on my beta's schedule as well, obviously). Sorry! :\

I've spent the last few days going through "Don't Panic!" and "Okay, NOW Panic!" Every time I think I've found all the really well-written LOTR fan fiction, I stumble across another one, and yours is way up there! You have filled your stories with well-drawn, believable characters, great descriptions and dialogue, and angsty plot-lines. Your story is set apart from others by the language situation (being dumped into Middle Earth not knowing any of the languages -- Penny needed a Babel fish!,) the realism of living conditions (although as a lover of Eomer/Lothiriel stories I rather hope that Edoras was "enlightened" in the hygiene area,) and the addition of Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome to the plot. Altariel's "A Game of Chess" is the only other story I've come across that seriously addresses this issue. My understanding of a Mary Sue is a perfect non-canonical character of out-of-the-ordinary skill who forms a romantic liaison with a canon character. Penny is definitely not perfect, and pretty ordinary. I do hope her future has some romance, and it seems you are headed that way, hopefully with Halladan! I hope that his role as her guardian does not keep this from happening -- in another story that I read, once a man had become a woman's guardian, he was like her brother, and a romantic relationship was out of the question. Hopefully not in this case! I will wait patiently for this story to be updated. I understand that real life intrudes terribly. I appreciate it so much that you are willing to spend time on this wonderful story that will never earn you any payment other than the pleasure of your readers. Author Reply: Thank you so much - both for reading let alone commenting and reviewing. the realism of living conditions (although as a lover of Eomer/Lothiriel stories I rather hope that Edoras was "enlightened" in the hygiene area,) Ah, well. Gotta find my means of comedy somewhere, right? Plus, any excuse to make life miserable for poor Penny. ;D A woman's guardian would indeed be like a brother. In addtion, as has been pointed out by various people, including Halladan himself, if Halbarad had lived he would have taken Penny on as a sort of adopted daughter, which would have meant Halladan really would have been akin to a brother to her. Arvain also, of course.

As much as I'd love to give you a decent review with critic points and all that, I am way to overwhelmed to even know where to begin. (plus I am sure that loads of more capable people have already done so. ;)) It took me a while to get to this point (meaning the last update) but throughout the way your fanfiction was incredible. I absolutely adore your writing style and even though I am not that familiar with the whole Tolkien universe, you got yourself a fan. ;) Unfortunately I know nothing more to say so I hope you feel well reviewed and I'm crossing my fingers that real life wont get any more stressful as I am eager to know how this story continues. :) Author Reply: Thank you so much for taking time out to comment, let alone read all of this thing so far. And thanks for your kind words and encouragement, I'm so glad you've enjoyed it all so far. :)

*bounce bounce bounce!!* OH, I LOVED this chapter!*bounces some more!* Especially the ending!! *grinning madly* I've thought all along that that would be the best solution, for Penny to go live with the Dunadan. I'm glad that Faelon thinks that his wife would really like her, that means Penny would have a good female friend there, which she would definitely need. AND... it would make it possible for certain relationships to continue to develop! One thought/question, though. Considering they are her guardians, would Penny live *with* Halladan and Arvain? Do they have their own houses or live in larger communal dwellings like the Elves? If they have individual houses, how appropriate would it be for Penny to live with them, even as their ward? Or would that be what was considered the proper thing? Hmmmm... so much to contemplate. I'm so glad you updated Boz... it was a wonderful chapter! (Even with the sadness of the elves and all...) Author Reply: Thank you! :D People certainly seem to like this 'alternative' solution, and many hoped or suspected it might be what I had planned, I think. Your questions are very good and pertinent ones. This is an issue that will be dealt with in coming chapters. :) It would not be appropriate for her, Arvain and Halladan to live all alone in a house together miles from anywhere. That is not what will happen.

I totally LOVE your story... This was a great chapter. I'm so glad she made the decision to go with the rangers. I would have been happy if she stayed in Imladris, but I was so scared she was going to go back to Minas Tirith because she felt it was the 'right' thing to do. Thank heavens she didn't. whewww! I'm one of the few, probably, that would be fine if she didn't get together with Halladan *ducks flying objects*, but I really like their relationship and you can kind of see where it's headed, but with your wonderful writing you can never tell. It's always fun - it's always a rollercoaster. I always look forward to the next installment! Author Reply: Thank you. :) Well, if it makes you feel any better: Halladan/Penny is by no means certain, far from it, at this stage. Whatever feelings they might develop might not be mutual, and even if they are would they act upon them? Both have huge self-esteem issues and pyschological complications just for a start. Nothing is certain, basically, and should not be taken as a 'fait accomplis'.

I think it is a great idea for Penny to go and live with Halladan and the others, after all she is mortal. I can't help to think that there is something very nice growing here ;) I love this story so keep it up. Author Reply: Thanks - for reading/reviewing and for enjoying the chapter. And yes the fact that she'll be in mortal company is an important point re. her choice of where to stay, I agree.

Oh will they just get a room already! LOL, I actually love the relationship between Penny and Halladan, and I am excited that she finally came to her decision. Staying with the Dunedain really is a great decision, now she just has to stay with one particular Dunadan... I can't wait for the next chapter, but I don't want this story to end... I'm a bit torn here. Thank you! Author Reply: Thanks for taking time out to review, and I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter. :) To stay with the Dunedain was, as she herself realises, the only sensible solution, the ideal solution indeed. :)
