Yes, poor Strider was indeed the stranger. However, that will change....

I am sorry that RL is being tough for you - hope it improves soon. Great chapter though. Would love to see a follow up where Strider suddenly finds that he is no longer a stranger to these hobbits. Author Reply: Thank you- you know how life is. Up and down all the time. As for an follow up... well, we'll certainly have to see. In Chapter 16 "Trust" it shows Sam Gamgee giving his trust to him, which is a huge leap, but I have not yet decided myself when the hobbits start to completely trust him. I'd definitely have to reread FOTR to find a place. But that is definitely an interesting idea. Thanks for reviewing :)

All those years and just a stranger, but he is a good stranger.Good thing that he had that letter from Gandalf. Author Reply: Good thing, indeed! As it is, part of me wonders how he would have convinced the hobbits otherwise, if Gandalf did not send the letter- I do not think it would be as easy as the movies make it out to be. Thanks for reviewing.

Poor Strider. He spent his whole life being an outsider. And, in some ways, that's what he remained to the end! King, yes - but the only one of his kind, separate from the rest of Gondor. Those of the Fellowship must have been extra important to him - the only people with whom he shared a kind of equality. Author Reply: You know, you are completely correct; even as king, he was separated from his people by his status. And I imagine those in the Fellowship were some of his only true friends. Sometimes you really have to feel for him. Thanks for reviewing :)

I hope real life gets better for you and I am truly sorry for your loss. With all the things going on in your life it has not affected your writing ability. This is truly a gem. This made Aragorn's persona more so enigmatic...just so mysterious. Wonderful! Author Reply: Thank you, RS. And I am so glad you think that- truly a wonderful compliment! :) Thank you very much!

I think this is one of your best pieces, Suvi. You wonderfully evoke Aragorn's 'apartness'; as well as his patience, power, hopes, and persona. Author Reply: Thank you very, very much, shirebound. I am very happy that you think so :)
